I can't deal with this game. The control scheme is so fucking obnoxious.>B throws long-range kunai>except it does an automatic low-range sword attack if an enemy is in front of you>the enemy can be completely outside of your sword's attack range but you will still be forced to use the sword and whiff>C jumps, then mid-air C double jumps >except it doesn't if you didn't hold C exactly the right amount the first time, or press it the second time within exactly the right window of time>mid-air B throws a kunai>except it doesn't if you double jumped instead of single jumping, then it wastes a bunch of kunai instead>mid-air down B does a dive kick>except you can't divekick after double jumpingIs this what "good game design" is supposed to be? Just a bunch of arbitrarily context-sensitive nonsense?
>>11987195I don't think I have ever seen the sword attack occur when the enemy is not in range and even if it does 1 out of every 100 times, so what? You didn't expend a kunai and you can just attack again if you need to, the attack animation is very short. And if you think the double jumping is twitchy then I hope you never try Revenge because it's way more generous in III. The kunai barrage out of the double jump isn't a waste, it's a useful spread shot and it makes sense that you do it after a double jump otherwise half of them would just go straight into the ground. You can't divekick after double jumping? Then don't fucking double jump if you want to divekick
>>11987195>control schemeAny thread that opens up complaining about this is safe to discard. It's always some filtered moron who played 10 minutes top and comes here to complain that he hasn't mastered the game in record time.
>Context-sensitive actions:\>Context-sensitive actions, my favorite game (OoT):D
>>11987237yeah, OP is 85 IQ at best
>>11987195You just aren't focused and precise enough to be a ninja master I am
>>11987237fuck you, you dick sucking faggot
>>11987195Lol, I just picked up this game to check it out after the praise it's now getting here, and I feel the same way. The way you have such limited control over your actual actual actions as absurd, a whole button is basically wasted for ninjitsu. And you know what's even more hilarious, it actually offer a 6 button mode option, but you can't even access this normally except as a convoluted 'cheat'.>>11987245Yes, I get you're half joking, but OoT's A button is well used for all kinds of misc actions that you're unlikely to want to immediately use in a different circumstance. While fighting enemies you're free to dodge, as you're never going to talk to an enemy mid fight (even though you *can* circumstantially talk to certain kinds enemies when thy're acting as friendly NPCs). It's one button on a controller where you will be making use of several other buttons that can be freely mapped to various equipable items. In Shinobi though, whether you use up a shuriken/kunai or not is determined by proximity, which feels oddly primitive. It's kind of disappointing if this is supposed to be around the system's peak.
>>11987195super easy compared to revenge. git gud.
>>11987339Bullseye
This game controls excellently, you're just filtered because it's not like "modern standards"
>>11987376I knew it was a tendie screen thread. Samefag harder.
>>11987195Don't care. Not playing the new indie shit Shinobi game. Use the 6 button code then, retard
>>11987195Unironic skill issue. Git gud.
>>11987421It's not even about 'standards', if I'm playing an action game where close up attacks are of any significance I want direct, expressive control over my character. In a sidescrolling shooter like Contra/Metal Slug this is fine as you're mostly blasting shit and any close up attack is a matter of convenience, but Shinobi is a game where you absolutely would want to be able to chose how to attack but limits you to a single button, and this is basically a fault of the game rather than a positive design decision that enhances anything. There are so many flash games that played better than this I swear.
No, really, you just fucking suck. The controls are fluid and fantastic. Stop blaming your lack of ability on the game. There's no tutorial mode, zoomer.
>>11987195Revenge is far better
>>11987195It's a somersault not a double jump. Don't use it unless you need the extra height or want to do a kunai fan attackThe melee range is fucked though, Idk why considering it was fine in RoS
>>11987237This
>>11987585Why
>>11989480Far better and more creative level design, no boring on-rails sections, far more challenging and much better overall difficulty curve, better bosses, melee attack isn't fucked, and can't just sprint past everything.Shinobi 3 has better movement and tech but the downside is the game is a piss-easy joke outside of the last two stages, of which the rock jumping section is a MASSIVE difficulty spike if you never played Revenge of Shinobi, since you barely use the somersault in Shinobi 3 and now you need to use it flawlessly like 30 times in a row. Also most deaths in Shinobi 3 are instant deaths, so the half HP of Expert should have been the default honestly
>>11987195you walk into doorframes irl don't you?
Put it into 6-button mode, Anon. That gets rid of allt he context-sensitive stuff. You have to enter a cheat code for it though, for some retarded reason they didn't put it in the options menu.
>>11987195>The control scheme is so fucking obnoxious.Options menu you stupid nigger.
Nowhere as obnoxious as you, OP.
