Remember when Nintendo testified in front of Congress against Sega because of games like Night Trap and Mortal Kombat with blood? That wasn't very cool of them.
>>11987862Night Trap will NEVER be on a Nintendo system.
>>11987872It should have been Nintendo that died.
>>11987862>>11987872Night Trap more likeShite CrapNintendoes what SEGAIN'T
>>11987862To HELL with anti blood PUSSIES
>>11987880Nah, that's too extreme.Ideal situation would be if Sega survived and Microsoft never entered the console business.A trio of Nintendo, Sega and Sony making consoles til the present day would've been best for the industry. Microsoft should've just focused on building up the PC gaming scene on Windows.
>>11987890If we’re talking about ideal scenarios Loonix would have taken over the PC gaming scene too
>>11987951Microsoft were gonna get into gaming one way or another. So I'd prefer if they just stuck to PC rather than shitting up the console space.Seeing as they ended up becoming a 3rd party publisher in the end anyway, it would've made more sense. They could've still published games like Halo and Fable, just as PC exclusives.
>Weird scifi Full House vampire fanfiction movie gets pressed onto game CD>Senators in 90s lose their shit and think it's a rape sim and use it as another reason to dogpile on Dana Plato>Rating system madeDid America really?
>>11987979Yeah, America had a collective meltdown over blood in mortal kombat too
>>11988025MK is a bit understandable, though pretty stupid in hindsight, but it's just baffling they lost their shit over Night Trap, when it's practically a TGIF Halloween special.
>>11988048I know the actual game was corny but the name “Night Trap” with the promotional images of screaming teenage girls was only bound to give boomer conniptions
>>11988048>MK is a bit understandableyeah back in high school kids were decapitating each other pretty much every day because they saw it in a video game
>>11987979The point of the rating system was to allow true mind numbing degeneracy to be aimed directly at children while giving parents the illusion that something was being done. Politicians are taking orders from guys that are many steps ahead of you.
>>11988254I honestly don’t think politicians are smart enough to play 4D chess. I think they’re as dumb as the rest of us and making knee jerk reactions based on what they think will help them win the next election cycle.
>>11988262>Politicians are taking orders from guys that are many steps ahead of youIt's called problem, reaction, solution. Old as fucking dirt. The point was to get the rating system in place and allow things to be released with a label instead of squashed, it wasn't a reaction it was paving.Smart people run the world man, they just hire idiots to front for them and take the heat.
>>11987883>Nintendoes what SEGAIN'Tt. da niggest from Compton
>>11987979America was pretty good, Walmart refused to sell a couple of games but the UK had to change the Name of the Turtles game and Gariel Knight was banned in my country because they said it had sexual violence.
>>11987862IT'S ONE OF THOSE DAYS
>>11987862The hearings themselves were important. Gaming needed a rating system like movies because before that it wasn't clear how violent each game was. It just makes sense for everyone involved. Nintendo wanting there to be no blood at all in video games was very dumb though.
>>11987872i saw a nintendo junk email today that was advertising a night trap game. it has happened.
>>11988885The Nintendo eshop today is full of low effort porn and hentai slop. The seal of quality days are long gone.
>>11989560Seal of Quality never really meant anything in the first place.
>>11989572Yeah it was just to reassure boomers after Atari flooded the market with trash
my favorite part was nintendo saying they would never have such violence on their console, then almost immediately they released uncensored mortal kombat 2 after realizing all the money they left on the table by censoring the first game.
>NintendoOf America*Japan didn't give a shit about this westie nonsense
>>11987979I don't know if you realize this but America has an extremely long history of people regulating and banning shit they have absolutely no idea about. For a recent example states have recently started banning "glock switches" parts that in most states are already banned on the state level and are most definitely banned on a federal level so you have shit that's been triple banned because people are morons who don't even know their own laws.Video games got off extremely lightly and it's kind of a miracle, I could easily see a scenario where the US adopted German or Australian style video game regulations.
>>11989593It wasn't even that, it just meant that a publisher had paid them to allow the game to be on their system.
Frog in the 'log
>>11987890>A trio of Nintendo, Sega and Sony making consoles til the present daWould Sega decide to follow Nintendo in making games or Sony in making walking sims?
>>11990684Walking sims with a high score, 3 lives, no continues and no saves and you only lose when you fail a QTE thay pops up randomly.
>>11987862Good OP
>>11990343It only really went so far as that someone at Nintendo accepted it for production, so as long as it was beatable and wasn't highly unstable (crashing every 5 seconds), it got the seal. Still didn't mean shit past that point considering all the shitty games the NES and SNES got.
>>11987862But think about it.If they didn't push for a ratings system, we'd be under some gay nanny govt ban on video games because THE KIDS!!! THINK OF LE KIDS!!!
>>11989773>Japan didn't give a shit about this westie nonsenseEven though they were using NoA as a puppet to ban used games because muh Nintendo Power (the precursor to nso, ereader, and the gay cards)?
>>11989560>The Nintendo eshop today is full of low effort porn and hentai slopThat was in 2017 and pre-covid, they got stricter now because Australian feminists were quietly phoning banks to debank Nintendo if they keep putting evil lolicon and booby slop on eShop.
>>11989885And less we forgot what happened in the 1930s...
>>11987880This loser was the Bernie Stolar of Nintendo, he doesn't get enough hate here.
>>11991209While Howard Lincoln has certain downs, he's the reason why Donkey Kong, NES, and Tetris was still a thing at the time.
>>11987862I find people who are always clamoring over wanting to see gore are typically degenerate pieces of shit
>>11987951spbp
>>11987862Hey now that's not what happened at all. Nintendo and Sega testified in front of Congress together and Nintendo pointed its finger at Sega and went "I never did anything btw wrong HE'S the one you want to punish".
