Does /vr/ like Persona?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBdlcNd0yXQ
yeah my favorite games are 2 and 3
>>11988118Only 1 and the 2 duology, playing them in order you see all the cool stuff they removed for the sake of visual novel dating sim crap
My first Persona game is 3 Portable but is "not retro".>>11988130>uh, muh Persona 1 and 2 on PSXWhat's up, unc?
3 FES is my favorite JRPG, even ignoring the optional post-game storyline it is a complete package.
>>119881302 I will give you, but 1 is a stinky pile of shit
>>11988138>uh muh generic anime tropesWhat's up zoomie?>>119881751 is the only that resembles an actual rpg, 2 is a slog but a slog with an actual fucking great story but a slog nevertheless
>>119881751 is pretty messy but I like how the characters are all insulting each other in every dialogue
>>11988273Yeah that you could talk to your party at random locations was one of the best parts of 1 and 2
I unironically like Persona 1 the most
>>11988118I’m having trouble playing this after having played the remake, but everyone on 4chan says it’s so much better. Do I have to play P3 on a CRT in the dark past midnight in order to get the desired effect?
>>11988610>Nate is still white Kek
>>119886101 isn't my favorite but i appreciate it a lot and i understand why people do have it as a favorite
I am firmly in the P1 camp. You should read the manga if you haven't. It is neat.
>>11988118P3Ponli here. Mitsuru is mai waifu. That is all.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNz2dz0k8d4
>>11988118Is this the 3hundred buck gaem?
Loved P3. Maybe my favorite game ever. 4 is also great. 5 I never got post like the 3rd mission where you have to convince your friend who was just a victim of sexual violence to be a nude model even though she doesn’t want to be. Tried one but I can’t do first person dungeon crawlers, and I think two also has those.
>>11988118I like everything about 2 except for the gameplay. 1 is kinda fun but not balanced very well.
>>11989420last i checked it was like $20... if it's $300 i'll sell my copy lol
>>11988118When P3 came out I was actually amazed at how bold of a departure it was from P2. Now every Persona is just a clone of it. Shame Okada was deleted from the company it all went downhill in the creative department after that.
That’s not retro
>>11990079Read. The. Rules.
>>11989976I liked 3. The calendar life sim business was more novel at the time and the story mystery and characters were actually rather interesting. Sadly I think the next to games really took all the wrong lessons. The life sim business took too much precedence which wouldn't be bad in itself but the world and characters surrounding it are practically non existent. Characters no longer have arcs and flaws that evolve over the course of the story. They have one moment of false apotheoses at the climax of their dungeon about a problem that was never really established or shown and then a vacuous social link where they reiterate it or go throw some inanity that seems to go more for cuteness rather than narration. The girl characters especially seem to only exist to be shallow dating sim fodder. Yukari may have been a turbo cunt but she was that way by being driving by sorrow, pain and confusion as to why things happened. That's a character arc. That's a story. Instead we would later get such engaging plots as "I don't want to run my inn... oh wait yes I do. Teehee." I know you might have wanted to swerve after 3's downbeat plot but it's just empty. And 5s no better. But given these games sold what do I know.
>>11990307>fuck you for saving me Nah fuck this bitch
>>11988118As a firm SMT fan, Ive played Persona 1 and thought it was fantastic. Been excited to play Persona 2. As for later games, I'll give P3 a try, but the high school life sim/only one dungeon thing is a big turn-off. Not retro but I didn't like the school setting in Trails Cold Steel nor the repeated and limited dungeon floors in Digimon Cyber Sleuth (which apes a lot from Persona).Persona 1 gets a pass on the school setting because like If..., the school is the setting for one dungeon and then they leave it.
>>11990768I really hate the over fixation on school and regular life when I should be doing an engaging and compelling quest. Persona 3 gets by a bit because they put certain rules on it's second world and generally just having better presentation. The Dark Hour™ only appears at a certain hour of the day and it gets gated between full moon bosses and more importantly you have the Kirijo group actively investigating shit so it feels like it's kind of a big deal. If you decide to just take a break from exploring it feels more justified and since only certain people can even see it it's all very secret society. 4 and 5 meanwhile are sitting on what might be the greatest discovery of their age and unless there's an immediate need to rescue someone nobody seems to care at all. Most strikingly there's no reason you can't make the second worlds more public. People say nobody would you believe you but there's nothing stopping you from showing them. Then there's the matter of urgency. In later games you can wait till the last second and no harm no foul. With 3 each coming full moon feels like a threat. That something big and dangerous is coming your way.
>>11988118Is it fine that i loved this game but didn't really like the other ones?
>>11991879you do you. it's not my favorite but I definitely like it more than 4 or 5.
Should I play the Persona 2 duology in the PS1 or in the PSP?
>>11991967PS1 if you're a faggot who cares about gamer credActually research the differences if you are a rational thinking adult
>>11991137True, they stopped giving a fuck about suspension of disbelief after 3
>>11991967Play the PSP port with patches to add the original music back and adjust the encounter rate.
Japanese friend having-simulator.That being said, I like 4 and 5. 1 and 2 are clunky and boring. 3's theme aged like milk and reeks if 2000's emo.
>>11992265Your taste reeks of zoomer
>>11992265>>11992270Samefag.
>>11988130Arent 1 and 2 actual regular jrpgs
>>11992276Not really "regular", having routes is not normal for jRPGs.
>>11992271You think this guy has an insult fetish?Lol
>>11988118I love 3 and P2IS. Haven't played Eternal Punishment yet.
>>11988130>playing them in order you see all the cool stuff they removed for the sake of visual novel dating sim crapContrarian fags always say shit like this when it comes to P2, but they can never name anything that was actually removed
>>11992258It feels like they don't care about anything.>Gateway to a magical world of mystery terror. A realm that defies conventional physics: Meh >You guys want sushi?: OH MY FUCKING GOD YES! YOU HAVE NO IDEA! THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING SHIT EVER!!
>>11991137I had an opposite reaction, too many useful adults were involved from the start in P3 to justify the kids having a normal school life. It really should have logically been some Evangelion NERV situation. In the later ones a scooby gang setup is more natural because you'd have to imagine kids convincing some authority figure that magic is real.
P2 (considered as one part) is the most boring RPG I have ever played, from a list of probably over a couple hundred. Way worse than the worst parts of any mainline SMT game. It's hard to believe how many stupid gameplay decisions are in it like making the demon recruitment analog work off a fungible currency.
>>11988118only played 3 +4 but i liked both of them, pretty good
i tried persona 1 (psp), but the fusion system is cancer. Is 2 any better?
>>11992664>In the later ones a scooby gang setup is more natural because you'd have to imagine kids convincing some authority figure that magic is real.Shove your head in a TV.
>>11992645>Gateway to a magical world of mystery terror. A realm that defies conventional physics:>HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE COOLEST SHIT EVER, I'M SO EXCITED LETS GO EXPLORE THIS WORLD OF MAGIC AND DEMONS MC-KUNThat's why Elly is the best.
>>11992850It's nice to see at least one person having fun.
>>11992664Been a while since I played P3, but I thought Kirijo Corp was trying to keep things under wraps while also allowing the Persona users to live a somewhat normal school life? They owned the dorm that only SEES members could join.
>>11992801Persona 2 has the most tedious fusion system in the whole megami tensei franchise.Enjoy having the same conversation with the same demon 20 times just for the chance of fusing 1 persona
>>11992342>having control of your fucking party>the whole party can change personas not just the super special wildcard MC, so you don't get to see your friends use the same personas the whole fucking game>guns>personas having different designs than their demon counterparts >being able to talk to your party at most locations instead of just stupid dating sim social link crap>demon negotiation that's even better than mainline smt and better than guess the card bullshit from 3Maybe fusion spells but those suck
>>11993349well thats great
>>11993317Fun things are fun!
>>11993363>>the whole party can change personas not just the super special wildcard MCGood lord am I sick of this shit. Persona by it's very definition should be multi faceted. Like the first thing this asshole tells you is that you have many yous so it blows ass that everyone but you is stuck using the same one until they get a single upgrade. They tried to make an excuse for it three but in 4 you're just the special because shut up. In any case it's bullshit. Though I suppose I do appreciate the irony of it taken such root in the games where the characters become personality devoid knobs.
