Why was Devil May Cry 2 given such a short window to be developed? From what I remember the Director was someone who had never worked on a game before and he couldn't handle the job and then the DMC 1 guy had like 2 months to make something with it and the game became a huge piece of shit.IIRC they never even said who the shitty director was because he was an executives son or some shit like that.Do any anons know the tale of why DMC2 was so shit?
>>11988439I wonder if the crapcom5 deal forced a hasty reshuffling that resulted in dmc2
>>11988441What was the crapcom5 deal?
I'd extend this question to any mainline popular game that wasn't given enough time, like Sunshine or Wind WankerIt's a new entry in your most popular series, surely it deserves all the time and care it needs
>>11988439Please use an on-topic image next time, thanks.
>>11988527It was the belief at the time that you needed to 'strike when le iron is hot' and if you have a hit, you need to pump out a sequel right away to keep the hype going. Same thing in the movie industry, where Mortal Kombat was a hit in theatres so they rushed a sequel with a different director and even different actors and it flopped.
>>11988439>the Director was someone who had never worked on a game beforeIt was someone who only worked on arcade games prior>then the DMC 1 guy had like 2 months to make something with itYou mean the DMC3 guy
>>11988439They had it being worked on for a while with nothing being acomplished. So they brought Itsuno in and were like "you have 4 months to finish this shit, lol"
>>11988570Jesus Christ. This still doesn't explain why the game was worked on for a year and basically had nothing done. It seems so bizarre coming from a company like Capcom.
>>11988570>One year of development>Only the stinger was complete
>>11988527Reporting a deficit is not a popular move for public companies.
>>11988439Why didn't Capcom acknowledge that it was trash like RE1.5 and cancel it?
>>11988452Capcom made an exclusivity deal with Nintendo for five upcoming AAA level games. These games ended up becoming Resident Evil 4 (one of the greatest games ever made), Viewtiful Joe (alright game), Killer7 (a cult favorite game), P.N.03 (crap game), and Dead Phoenix (cancelled). The GameCube sold like shit compared to the PS2, so Capcom were quick to port all of the games to other platforms so they could actually make a profit from these titles. Only one game really lived up to what was promised and the rest fell flat. They got like 1.5/5 out of 5 games they signed for.
>>11988982That must have been humiliating. A shit ton of people probably got fired over this
>>11989000>>11988982Delusional posts and dogshit math. Even if you don't like Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7 they're ''''real'''' games.
>>11988982>Viewtiful Joe (alright game)It was reviewed extremely well but sold poorly, yet for some reason they rushed a bunch of sequels and an anime
>>11989023Ehhhh, konnichiwa, Mikami-san!
