Imagine struggling to beat a game for toddlers.

I don't have the autism to scientifically test if the game actually has rubberbanding or not, but if it does it's extremely light. I've found that if you're good you can easily make huge distances from everyone else, and overlaps are absolutely possible. It's not Mario Kart 64, where it's impossible to get 20ft ahead. If someone can definitively demonstrate the rubberbanding in this game, go ahead and show it.

>rubberbanding AI
You mean CPU.

DKR is super easy even with the timetolose cheat code, once you learn the green boost and powerslide mechanics the game is a cakewalk outside Wizpig 1.
Adventure 2 is a bit harder, specially with the silver coin locations, but it isn't bullshit hard.

hang in there, dude. i beat this game when i was 9.

Who is the best racer overall? I feel like Wario always felt like the most balanced in mk64, he was always everyone’s first pick either way.

In DKR? AIs are too dumb for items to be a threat and the drift system is so generous that handling is useless, so the only stat that matters is speed. You'll have an easy time with anyone that's at least 3/5 speed. Except Krunch, Krunch can't turn for shit even with drifting.

Tiptup and Bumper. But T.T is the best in pure stats by far.
Pipsy fags can go rot in Wizpig's hog pants

Objectively? T.T followed by Drumstick, but I dont like the way they handle, so, for me, it's

Yeah, but the game is more skill based than MK64 (although, that wouldn't be hard).
>>
>>11990309
There IS no rubberbanding in DKR, you unironically just got filtered.

There’s GameShark codes to change the vehicle used by racers. The snowballs rolling across the track in the Walrus boss stage are technically vehicles. If you change the AI racers into snowballs then they won’t actually move, they can’t without special stage paths to follow. They just sit at the starting line. If you drive away yourself you’ll notice the snowballs start moving on the minimap. But if you turn around to go check them they stop moving. This is rubber banding.

Rubberbanding AI essentially mirrors arcade difficulty ranking, dynamically increasing difficulty the better you're playing.

A static, arbitrary, invisible wall that you drag with you after reaching a distance threshold,
ostensibly pushing everyone forward at a static rate, is not rubberbanding.
Rubberbanding implies a "slingshot" effect of some kind that pushes the player
into an increasingly higher minimum of over-achievement in order to maintain "survival".

If record times are the equivalent to high score, rubberbanding is the equivalent of scoring increasing your rank.

The only other "play better = play harder" equivalent that racers have, "drive faster = crash easier",
would be missing entirely from Kart Racers if it wasn't for rubberbanding.
For skill based design to have any bite to it as you move away from the skill floor,
the game has to have some kind of system in place to introduce consequences to high level play.

Almost every aspect of rubberbanding is a direct analog of difficulty ranking in Shmups and Beat em Ups.
Bagging is no different from suiciding to get back bombs/lowering rank.

DKR's lack of real rubberbanding is like an arcade game with survival and no scoring. The game is solved. You're done.
All you have left is at best some Pokemon Nuzlocke-tier shit, a self-imposed make believe skill ceiling.
