What's your go-to retro-gaming controller?
>>
>>11991182
I got a sn30 pro and a ultimate 2c.

Both are great, usually use the 2C for PS1 and beyond and the sn30 for everything before

I wanna say my stick, but I'm often too lazy to hook it up, so probably the dualshock 4
>>
>>11991182
The one that works best for what I'm playing

Depends on the game, but Sega Saturn controllers fit the games I play most.
>>
>>11991182
Xbox 360 controller remains the GOAT for 3D. If it's a 2D game, nothing is better than a keyboard.
>>
>>11991295
>If it's a 2D game, nothing is better than a keyboard
It depends on the system/game
Keyboard is the best for 4th gen and all retro handhelds. It's also great for Genesis and PC Engine games, but for most SNES games I prefer a controller
Keyboards are also really, really good for classic Resident Evil
>>
>>11991321
>for 4th gen
I meant 3rd gen
>>
>>11991292
Those are cute. Where do I get some like them?
>>
>>11991292
Do you keep a stockpile of all this shit or do you resell?

They started making them again and can be found on amazon. The white/orange one came with Puyo Puyo Fever. I did see some at Microcenter as well.

>>11991340
I had a Saturn in its day, and the controller suits my hands perfectly. Given my execution and muscle memory is tuned to the controller, I was bound to wear out the controller, so I at the time I had to get spares thinking they may no longer be around for me.

Usually the most recent xbone controller.
I like the clicky round d-pad.
I have adapters for ps1/2 / saturn controllers but I'd rather just play those on real hardware and use the xbone for emulation.
>>
>>11991498
Reasonable.
>>
>>11991498
Reasonable. I've never seen this brand before. What's your take on Retrobit vs 8bitdo controllers? Are these Japanese Retrobits? They're licensed and look like them.
>>
>>11991182
The one in bottom left

Plus NES pads for anything that only requires 2-4 buttons
>>
>>11991528
It was a conclusion made after trying alternatives, which were serviceable, but ultimately I just prefer the D-pad feel of the Saturn controller. While closest was the Ascii Pad FT for Third Strike (which I'd actually want specifically for the SF3 games over a stock Saturn pad) as it seems "faster" for the parries in the game, but all else not as comfortable to many other games.

>>11991653
I did save up to get one Retrobit version in clear blue from Microcenter, and I think it is pretty close to the real thing. In a blind test, I'd say I might not be able to tell. As for 8bitdo, I have yet to try one of them. The ones I have that are USB or PS2 are from SLS which I think was a Sega subsidiary that manufactures in China.

Are there any controllers that have the neogeo pocket's clicky control stick thing? There's the pdp versus fightpad which I plan to get and that snk thing from 8bitdo which I heard was shit.

>>11991676
The bottom left. Is it as fragile as people say it is?
>>
best controller, unless you need an analog stick, then Dualsense because its less loud then an xbox one controller and the DS4Windows software is powerful, touchpad is good and microphone is too.
>>
8bit do m30 and pro2 is all i need
>>
>>11991506
submarine guy used a wireless one
>>
>both sticks on my GC controller have bad drift
Is this fixable? If not I might just scrap the controller and use the buttons for my GC Ultimate.
>>
>>11992008
Also I don't have the console anymore so it could just be my adapter fucking shit up.
>>
>>11991754
the M30 actually looks very comfy for gen 4 and earlier
>>
>>11991182
The Wii U pro controller is my compromise controller, the one I always have on my desk because it's good enough for both retro and modern games. The layout looks sub-optimal, but actually using it, it feels natural no matter what game.
I plug in one of these if I know I'll be playing 2D games.
>>
i think the snes is my go to...if i had one ._.
>>
>>11992083
Oh shit, they make 8 button versions now? I had one of the 6 button ones, but it annoyed me that I couldn't use it for some gen 5 games that used more buttons than that. 8 buttons solves that problem.
>>
For me, it's the M30 with the 8bitdo D-Pad swapped with a genuine one from an OEM 6-button Genesis pad. For 3D stuff, Gamecube controller if it has enough buttons for the game being played, and DualShock 3 if not.
>>
>>11991187
Is the d-pad on the 2c as bad as people say?
>>
>>11992245
nta but i have one and i like the d-pad. before purchasing it i did some research and most people seemed to like the d-pad, including some yt fags who played fighting games with it
>>
>>11991754
they really gotta update that to 1000hz polling
>>
>>11991703
Wish they still made controllers like this. I know 8bitdo has a Neo Geo one but it needed two more face buttons really, even if it wouldn't be accurate
>>
I got an 8BitDo SN30 Pro (wired), and it suits me well.
>>
>>11992612
My only problem is how plain and homely it looks. It used to look like pic related until Nintendo made them change it.
>>
I have a genuine Saturn model 2 but I actually like the Dpad in the M30 more. It feels slightly less mushy, so double forward/back inputs feel more precise.
>>
>>11991703
>The bottom left. Is it as fragile as people say it is?
yes and no.
if you force it too much, you will break it.
but on the bright side, if you have a 3d printer it is very easy to repair. i've disassembled it a couple times to adjust one of the buttons that came with a factory defect, nothing serious though.
mine is still good with its original parts.
>>
>>11991198
I love that stubby little bastard. Submarine guy probably accidentally pushed the xinput/directinput switch on the back and fucked the stick directions
>>
>>11992720
Yeah but the pivot... there's so much less of a pivot on the 8bitdo
>>
>>11991198
I wish Logitech would make a revision that fixes all the drawbacks. Fragile bumpers with unreliable contacts, awfully stiff triggers with uncomfortable placement/shape, and newer ones past 2015 have a built-in massive deadzone in the analog sticks that you can't turn off. Hopefully they've stopped doing that last one but even if they did it's luck of the draw which revision you'd get. Yeah people complain about the dpad having no pivot, I personally don't mind.

Anything similar to a dual shock. I have a saturn style for 6 face button games and an nes style for 2 button games, even has shoulder buttons for gba. They're all just ok. I bought an 8bitdo ultimate and I'm pretty disappointed with it, only had it like a month and the face buttons are starting to stick, especially the a button. It's not dirt or grime, it feels like I've worn grooves either in the buttons or the holes. Feels cheap, has little spaces etched in the back for grip I'm assuming. Sticks are smooth at least and it was only $50 for a wireless with a dock(who uses a fucking dock though, there's a charging port on the controller). It has 2 programmbale buttons on the back but youbhave to download and run a seperate program to be able to use them. It does work well enough most of the time. Bought it for dreamcast , xbox and modern games but I don't think it'll last, I have a $25 360 knock off I like better honestly that I've had for a couple years. Works good enough for thps2 and mvc2

>>11991754
Must be good to play fight games
>>
>>11992901
You have to use so much force to actually push the Dpad in on the M30 that I don't notice the lack of a hard pivot in real usage. The 'soft pivot' is good enough.
>>
>>11991703
>The bottom left. Is it as fragile as people say it is?
No. It's more fragile. Few people get to experience how fragile they are because most of them are already broken.

I would never recommend a modern first party controller because it will inevitably develop drift

Hey, you bitch ass faggot: 8BitDo M30, smash or pass? Is it good or should I dodge? I'm thinking about getting the Xgoy edition.
>>
>>11994214
Pass. Get the Retro-Bit Genesis 8-Button Wireless instead. NOT the Saturn one. For some reason their Genesis controllers are way the fuck better than their Saturn ones. Nearly perfect. And it has shoulder buttons so no disadvantage at all.
Avoid 8bitdo, mainly because the dpad barely has a pivot.

Got a Hyperkin X91 secondhand and it works amazingly well for my steam library (most of which are ports of older games). Haven't tried with emulation, but I think it would work fine
