About to start this. Is PSX version fine or should I play the GOG version or something else?
>>
>>11991185
Ps uno you gotta deal with multi disc shit in an emulator but that takes 5 seconds. I usually just replay the gamecube version.
>>
>>11991185
Gamecube version for the type-c controls. You will never go back.

Yeah that was the best control scheme ever devised for these games. I came up with something very similar in RE1 not long after I bought it. I don't know why they took away the option to freely rebind the controls after that.
>>
>>11991185
Of course psx version is the best, assuming you have a crt monitor, because it's 240p.
If you emulate then use a crt filter.
>>
>>11991185
>PSX
Yes, is the original and most popular one.
>>
>>11991185
N64 is the best version
>>
OP here.

I'm just remembering that I believe I played RE1 with R2 as forward, L2 as backward, and that made tank control navigation feel so much better.

D-pad alone feels awful. Why the hell did they remove the ability to edit controls?

Didn’t know this had a gog release. Can anyone itt give a quick review or thumbs up/thumbs down?

>>
>>11991830

Modded pc version
>>
>>11991991
this, for the entire trilogy.
>>
>>11991980
Lmao
>>
>>11991830
Haven't played it myself yet, but from what I hear, it's the Platinum version tweaked for newer Windows, not the Sourcenext version from Japan.
>>11991185
I'd say PSX. Last time I played a PC version, I noticed some minor tracks not being present in the game. A nitpick, yes, but I prefer having the whole experience.
>>
>>11991737
Overwhelming urge to check and see if i actually have a copy or if im remembering my previous collection just hit me.
I doubt i have a copy now.....
>>
I favor the Dreamcast version.
>>
>>11992190
GOG offers both versions depending on your selected region.
>>
>>11991227
You didn't beat the game.
>>
>>11992373
So you get the sourcenext version if you say you're in japan?

/vr/ should really just have a stickied thread with the best versions of RE1-3 so people will stop making dumb threads like this
>>
>>11993135
There's no version that objectively the best. They all have different quirks and features.
>>
>>11993246
With 2 and 3, the PC versions are fairly objectively the best.
The only thing missing is RE2's EX Files and Randomizer from N64, but those are more cute bonuses than game changing features.

RE1 you could make that argument for I guess. Advanced Mode is only on DC, Battle Game is only on Saturn, but for the main playthrough, PC is still best.
>>
>>11991185
Sourcenext + >>11992736
And tell capcom to suck a cock with their shitty US GOG release and tell ps1 fags to neck themselves
Same applies to RE3.

The GoG Re-Releases are the terrible original ports made for the US market full of bugs.
>>
>>11991195
The campaigns are on seperate discs how is this even a problem.
>>
>>11993256
>With 2 and 3, the PC versions are fairly objectively the best.
shut the fuck up retard
>>
>>11993658
Great argumentation.
There is no reason why one shouldn't play Sourcenext patched, there is nothing the other console versions offer that the PC version lacks.
Sourcenext 2 and 3 gives you
>All of 2's scenarios in one package
>Full size FMVs and backgrounds for both games
>All six difficulties for RE2, all four for RE3
>Mod support, which includes a randomizer you can implement for RE2, negating the one exclusive gameplay mode not present on the PC versions
The only things missing at this point are the EX Files and RE3's costumes are done in the main menu rather than the Boutique. That's it, there's no real reason to want the originals over the PC versions.
>>
>>11993665
Is the speech quality as good as PS1? I played the old PC port of RE2 and speech was too compressed
>>
>>11993563
its not retard.
