Thoughts on modernized controllers for retro consoles?
>>
>>11991391
Eh whatever. Personally I think one should play the games with their original hardware (if possible/practical) for the true experience. But the most important part is the game itself.
>>
They're fine if they work well. I don't think any modern N64 controllers work well.
>>
N64 is the only console this makes sense for, and only really because the design of the analog stick. There aren't really any games I know of where the layout is a hindrance.
>>

A lot of the ones alone the market are mostly wireless with slight ergonomic changes

Sin and Punishment
>>
Some of them like the Retro Fighters one for OG Xbox are actually pretty good. Of course your millage will vary, I don’t think their PS one is as good in comparison.
>>
If Nintendo were to release a revision of the controller during the N64 era, it would already look like that anyway.
>>
>>11991427
What makes the Xbox one better?
>>
If they had the intelligence to match the stick position and z trigger of the regular N64 with the modern controller style then maybe they would have something
>>
>>11991404
and dreamcast because that controller also sucked
>>
>>11991398
Ah, yes, the way God intended argument.
Maybe I'll find your gaming YouTube channel that funds your credible business
>>
>>11991398
Yeah, playing Sin and Punishment with this controller wouldn't be fun.
>>
>>11991391
This type of garbage is the hardware equivalent to reimagining the Mona Lisa as black.
>>
I just ordered a brawler 64 because of how uncomfortable I find the N64 controller. Hope it isn’t total shit.
>>
>>11992079
I like their 64 pads. Found them very comfortable to hold and worked great.
In tests the stick doesn't have the same exact range of motion as an OEM controller, but in practice it doesn't make a difference. I easily beat Ocarina and Goldeneye after mine arrived, and then bought three more in different colours.
Their Dreamcast controller was a letdown though. The d-pad was shite and the VMU port was too tight.

How do you figure? The ique was released after the gamecube and it wasn't necessarily a design Nintendo proper came up with.
>>
>>11991391
Most 3rd party controller are garbage made for gullible children. This has been true for decades and has not changed.
>>
>>11992375
All first party controllers are so shit these days that it seems like we're being scammed.

I really like this. Just wish the gate was more pronounced
>>
Do any modern ones have a real analogue stick like the original N64 controller or are they basic sticks like the Dualshock & Xbox controllers?

Okay, just go it, I like how it feels to hold way more comfortable. Don't have any issues playing F Zero, seems like it's an improvment for the game. But I'm not crazy on the stick and wish I could use a rumble pak with it. Good but not perfect.
>>
they're cool. anyone should ba able to play games they way they want. having fun is what matters.
>>
>>11992563
I got this controller too, despite the bad reviews, I've enjoyed mine and haven't had any issues.
>>
>>11992589
What defines a real stick?
>>
I have a wired Brawler64. It's okay, I would have bought something else though. Their QC apparently sucks because I had to open mine and fix a pinched ribbon wire to the shoulder buttons and put the main wire back in properly before I could use it.
>>
>>11991865
>use what it came with
>>YOU DON'T LIKE NEW PRODUCT SO THAT MEANS YOU'RE SELLING ME STUFF
>>
>>11991391
I'd like this controller more if it worked with the Transfer Pak. No idea why none of the modern N64 controllers support the thing.
>>
>>11994042
Real stick = the one I grew up with
Fake stick = the one I didn't grow up with
>>
>>11991404
That's what I was thinking when coming into this topic. That controller really was shit.

Have you dorks actually opened a N64 controller or just spout memes because you see 3 handles and assume it's inoperable by a human?

Are you saying you actually opened up an N64 controller and are so cosmically retarded that you said "yes due to my vast experience with paste eating I can clearly see this is analog"?
