What mecha games do you love /vr/?
>>11991461Zeonic Front and Encounters in Space are my favorite Gundam games. The PS2 had a ton of mecha games.>Armored Core 2/2AA/3/SL/LR/Nexus >all the Gundam games >Gungrifffon Blaze >Front Misson 4&5I didn’t realize how good we had it. I don’t really care much for the FM remakes but I hope they keep going because I want an official release of FM5
>>11991467Good games
>>11991461I haven’t thought about the MetalTech games in a very long time. EarthSiege 1 & 2 are good, StarSiege is okay, but Tribes killed it. I always was more into these games than Mech Warrior.
>>11991461Are mechs just an aesthetic or an actual, specific genre?
>Why yes, im ludo.
>>11992126>mechs
>>11992126They're a theme, like horror games. Mech games can be FPS, TPS, strategy games, sidescrolling action, RPGs, adventure
>>11992206But horror fags insist on their games being more than just horror themed, but that the gsmeplay is "horror" too. What do we say, mech chads?
>>11992325I'd consider it a theme like >>11992206 said.Splatterhouse, Resident Evil, Waxworks and Necronomicon don't have much in common when it comes to gameplay.
>>11991467I rented Zeonic Front from Hollywood Video when I was a kid, I couldn’t get past the second or third mission and I dropped the game. It just pissed me off. I picked it up again years ago when I found it for 4.99$ at a used game store and it’s really unique. I like how you have to plan routes and MS loadouts for each mission. I don’t think we’ll ever get another Gundam game like it again.
>>11992206I would say the opposite, it’s a genre with different types of gameplay. >Front Mission and some Final Fantasy games have similar gameplay but one appeals to a different crowd >Some Gundam games play like 3rd person shooters>Some are simulators >side scrollers >fighting games I don’t really know how to put it, but you’re buying a game because it’s a mecha game not because of the gameplay so I would call it a genre first.
>>11992472Based retard. I bet you think about BBC all day queermosexual troon. I bet your right pink boi hole gets violated nonstop by humongous thick black members
>>11992084I miss Gungriffon...
>>11992472>I don’t really know how to put it, but you’re buying a game because it’s a mecha game not because of the gameplay so I would call it a genre first. Not me, I'm not a Mecha fan, I've watched a couple of animes like everyone but that's it. I play Gungriffon or Metal Warriors because I love action games and mechs make for some cool action games. If I played Bramah Force it's because I love PSX FPS gamesMaybe it's just me though>>11992476So, replay it? 2 has some replay value with the possible customization
>>11991461playing MechAssault on XBL back in the early 2000s was awesome
>>11992126Its a subset of genre fiction, but not a video game genre. Same as horror or fantasy.
Are these the msot polular mecha games?>gungriffon>Mech assault>front mission>armored core>mech warrior>zone of the endersMissing somethin?
>>11992726Super Robot Wars.
There's a semantic detail that tends to escape a lot of people when it comes to mecha as a genre. "Mecha" in Japan refers to the illustration of fictional machines or of mechanical or mechanised designs in a fictional context. The actual genre of giant robots with "mecha" (designs) is commonly referred to as simply "robot sci-fi".
>>11991461The Saturn has a surprisingly decent amount of great mecha. >Virtual-On>Bulk Slash>GunGriffon 1&2>Gundam Side Story 1,2,&3All bangers.
cybernator on snes
Great games:- Gundam One Year War (PS2)- VOTOMS (PS2)- Most Armored Cores, specially Last Raven and 4: For Answer- Assault Suits Valken- Metal Warriors
Not-so-good games:- Battle Engine Aquila- Gun Metal- B.A.D. Battle Armor Division- Strike Suit Zero/Infinity
>>11991461MW2:Mercs had the perfect campaign.Armored Core 1&2 had excellent gameplay.>VRShame that I never got any mech games working in VR. But that's a different board.Super robot wars taisen as honorable mention.
>>11993997Err Heavy Gear 1&2, not armored core.
>>11993998To the insect mind, it is impossible to have two different things.
>>11992084that looks pretty sweetgotta give that a try
>>11992014>Earthsiege game over scenereally skewed my thoughts on "Artificial Intelligence" back then
I don't really like the Japanese mech games. Front mission is kewl though
>>11991461ES and ES:2 really had the creepy post apocalyptic feel down. I was always creeped out by the music they used in the hanger, when trying to build your HERC.
>>11994379The port of Mechwarrior 1 for PC-98 and the Sharp x68000 are great and the definitive editions of Mech 1, sadly none of them was ever ported back to DOS under reverse engineering or ever translated from nip to MERICAN
>>11994379What's wrong with Japanese ones? They can make more grounded games as well.
>>11994379>mech
>>11995319Gundam-like plastic toys.
>>11991461Are there any gory mecha games like Shogo?
>>11996008Filtered.
>>11996012There are but I'm not telling you.
