What's the /vr/ take on these two games?

Twinsanity made me think Crash could still be great. It was obviously unfinished and rushed for release but a classic Crash game is there I think.

I've never played Heroes Tail but bought a copy recently for the PS2 and want to get to it soon. People talk about it much more positively than any other PS2 era Spyro title.

Hero's Tail is basically Spyro if it was Jak and Daxter (the original). Good, but different.

>a classic Crash game is there I think
It plays nothing like classic Crash, it's like a discount Jak and Daxter or something.

I had hero's tail on the gamecube but i never beat it

same mini games were annoying as shit and the characters were annoying

>Hero's Tail is basically Spyro if it was Jak and Daxter
Um, what? Jak and daxter is a very simplistic collectathon that is well executed.
Hero's tail is spyro with mini game bloat and worse graphics and music, And the dreadful mole levels.
It is better than dragonfly, but that doesn't mean much.
>>
in general i consider crash and spyro dead after the ps1, not saying the ps2 games aren't worth playing, but for me they just pale in comparison, they lost the sauce they had
>>
Hero's Tail is arguably generally good. It plays more like a weird cross of Ratchet and Clank 1 (actual money system and an expanded dragonbreath system that's feels more like an arsenal of weapons rather than just your generic attack) and Jak and Daxter (big mostly seamless open world with platforming objectives) which is kind of interesting. The worst part of the game is it's reliance on mid-00's quirky/4th wall humor which will make you want to kill yourself any time a cutscene starts.

The only things I like about Twinsanity are the soundtrack which is good, and the writing which is actually genuinely funny. I could never stand the gameplay, the levels in that game all range from "not really interesting" to "clearly not playtested" and the reward for getting all the gems is so pointless it makes you not even want to bother any time you see some stupid platforming set up leading over to one.

I was really surprised when Crash became popular again in the late 2010s. When I was growing up, Crash and Spyro were both considered bargain bin-level C-grade platforming franchises compared to Mario and Sonic. The only ones I ever played were those godawful GBA crossover games.

You have to be blind if you can't see how A Hero's Tail copied Jak's homework.

Crash Purple and Spyro Orange are the worst games in their respective serieses and it's not even close. If you had literally any other GBA Crash or Spyro game you would have probably liked it.

Okay maybe not Season of Frost but that's the only one that's not great.

>Season of [Ice]
I had Season of Flame as a kid and liked it a lot. To this day I think it's the best contender for "Spyro 4".
Eventually I played Season of Ice and it sucked so much ass. It's like they fixed everything for Flame.

A New Beginning on GBA is also really bad. It's like a licensed game for a video game.
>>
with all due respect if you like ANY Crash or Spyro game made after the 90s you need to kys asap

Not huge on Spyro 3, huh?

Sorry, N.Tranced was goated.

When I was growing up mario and sonic weren't even on the fucking map. Nobody at school spoke about anything except playstation or xbox and the closest thing to caring about nintendo was that somebody's mum bought wii fit and then gave up on it 2 weeks later.
>>
>>11997782
I like Spyro 3 and Twinsanity, some of MoT was half decent too.
>>
>>11997946
Yeah I was born in '95 and that's pretty much how I saw Nintendo back then. People liked the DS though. Actually now that I think about it, for the 2000s, Nintendo in my mind registered as a handheld company.
>>
>>11999216
Also '95 and same. Probably because DS was such a shovelware system too. Every fucking franchise had a DS game, even nickelodeon shows.
>>
>>11994932
They're basically licensed shovelware, made by licensed shovelware studios.

The 2020s?
