It's the copy abilities, anon, even the most autistic Kirby fag knows Kirby can't inhale everything.
>>
>>11995214
i thought kirby was this op god who could inhale everything
then you're telling me kirby NEEDS AN OUTSIDE WEAPON to actually pose a challenge??
this is some "thanos infinity gauntlet" retardation. hate fucks who treat characters in specific, plot conditions as base level

sonic doesn't need anything to kill him

Kirby couldn't copy in the original game.
>>
>>11995214
>>11995218
Every boss takes more damage from Kirby spitting stars than from any copy ability except for limited ones like Crash or Mic.
>>
>>11995172
also
it's the "boss are so fucking retarded they give you ammo and tools for you to use against them"
because apparently kirby is nothing naked
>>
>>11995426
The "ammo" Kirby is given is always just a byproduct of the boss using its attacks on Kirby.
>>
>>11995432
you cant steal a bounce/jump
they are retarded
you need no weapon to damage him. just punch him lmao
>>
>>11995439
>you cant steal a bounce/jump
But you can, obvious example would be Dedede's iconic jump attack that always leaves two stars that Kirby can inhale
>>
>>11995439
>just punch him
Many bosses do just that, look at Dedede for a prime example. The problem for them is that whiffing a physical attack in Kirby's world produces stars he can suck up and spit back at them. Imagine if you tried to punch someone, but you missed and hit a wall, and that caused a gun with one bullet loaded in it to appear out of thin air for your opponent to pick up and use against you. That's the world Kirby's enemies are living in.

the point is
no ammo. no nothing
stars or whatever, that thing is ammo. stars aren't excluded

It's really interesting how Kirby managed to become a successful franchise after that first game. Don't get me wrong, it isn't crappy or anything, but it really just feels like a tech demo. Very short, special powers are basically setpieces where you can only use them for a few seconds to take out a couple enemies, and the first boss has a blatantly obvious safespot (wouldn't be as detrimental to the overall experience if the game had more than 5 bosses). It just feels like a prototype of what Kirby would become, and not in the way that many games feel like a prototype of their sequels, but the first Kirby hardly feels like a fully fleshed out game. It isn't surprising that it appears as though the game wasn't going to be released due to lack of interest until Nintendo apparently saw its potential and saved it.

It is gay and reddit, but it used to not be. Part of the reason the Doom Marine's strength is over-exaggerated in modern gaming culture was the series of threads /tg/ did 15~ years ago working out his power level relative to 40K space marines. The math used to get reposted all over the internet

It was juvenile and cringe back then too.

What I think is weird is that apparently it was made to be a game for beginners, as your first action game. But that's already the first Mario, Kirby was not needed.

Kirby's air puff and slide do damage, without requiring anything
>>

you know what also does damage? bullets
deadlier, faster bullets
sonic eats million of bullets for breakfasts

This is just nu-Kirby though aka Sakurai jerking himself off and Kumazaki being a edgy madoka/touhou fag.

>only one game for beginners on one platform ever needs to exist
Why would you think this?
>>
>>11996404
>But that's already the first Mario
You're delusional. Mario was everyone's first platformer but far from entirely for beginners.
>>
>>11997796
The first stage is good enough to teach any kid how to play games.

>>11997763
Because after you learn how to play you graduate to harder games.
>>
>>11997825
What about kids that had a Game Boy but never an NES? They wouldn't have access to the first Mario, but they'd have access to Kirby.

I'm not surprised, but my impression was that it was troubled even before release. HAL was originally supposed to publish it themselves under the Twinkle Popo name, but was struggling to do so until Nintendo stepped in, changed the name, and handled publishing it.

It's funny how adaptable children can be. I played SMB before I ever played a Kirby game, yet Kirby games never stood out to me as being particularly easy, even though I'd played through objectively more difficult games.

>feels like a tech demo
You people need to stop using that term to describe fully released games. You're just ripping on retro games for being simple in some ways and "primitive" in others. From the retro era, "tech demos" were free and were usually a snippet of a fully finished & polished game. The whole purpose of the demo is to give the player a chance to play the game, so they would want to buy it. It makes zero sense to release a "tech demo" that's barebones and unpolished? Who would buy that? I've not played Kirby's Dream Land on GB, but Kirby's Adventure on NES is incredible. It is literally the perfect game for small children. They took Mario Mario as a concept and added safeguards to shore up all his vulnerabilities; flight to prevent death by pit, health bar (and health refills) to provide margin for error, added verticality to accommodate flight and added abilities to spice things up. Going from running into the first goomba 20 times in a row in SMB to being able to literally fly over all the baddies to the finish is a liberating experience for a child. Playing with all the powerups is so much fun. The world is super cute and colorful. Kirby is for little kids.
>>11996404
>But that's already the first Mario, Kirby was not needed.
Not true in the slightest. Mario is fucken hard. If you had a 3, 4 or 5 year old you'd know this. The critical thinking and hand-eye coordination to maneuver those stages without touching the wrong thing in the wrong way or falling into a pit is advanced. If you think, "oh, well I could do it when I was *insert age here*", then it's because you were already exposed to retro vidya, so you understood the concept. Mario is basically a pass/fail game with zero margin for error.
