Retro gore thread. Funny drawn-on labels welcome.

I don't have a pic but I did a region mod on my pal snes, used a soldering iron to widen the cart slot. Got a shock when I found it in my storage bin a while ago.

What's the gore here? Aside from sitting a well-used monitor directly on the floor?
>>
>>11998695
The painted cabinet itself is a piece of history and art.
>>
>>11998870
the cabinet is just wood panels thats been painted, and stickers placed on them and the glass. Not exactly hard to replicate.
>>
>>11998681
lmfao i probably would have done that 15 years ago when i modchipped my gamecube. i just used full sized discs with the sensor taped down and cover off or some shit, it's been so long

I can only assume the previous owner had the bright idea to try and force it to fit into a standard Genesis cart slot. Luckily the board is fine and it works.

The Computer Space Cabinet was the only one that was salvaged. The fiberglass body actually protected the components inside from the elements and the cabinet still worked.

The other arcade cabinets were a complete loss. They were made of wood. It was rained on, rotted, and suffered huge water damage to the entire cabinet. The electronics were destroyed by water. Pretty every other cabinet was covered in rotted wood or rust.

How can you even cut discs like that?

>>
>>12001173
some of those cut marks look like (maybe) a dremel was used. cutting them out is one thing but now the top layer is compromised so i can't imagine those discs lasting long if the freshly cut sides are not sealed up properly. top layer will eventually flake off.

You can see that black line he's drawn on the disks, well as long as all the data you need has been written to the sectors inside that black line it should still be readable. Though there is a possibility of fractures extending into the disk and corrupting shit.
>>
>>12002674
You don't even need a marker, you can see where the data is on the reflective side as shown here>>12002616

It's just a matter of having sharp scissors that cut instead of crush, no fractures as a result

I believe that cabinet was found in a condemned building slated for demotion. It was in the basement and there leaky pipes all over

>>11998674
>>12000443
I think this was in Europe. The cabinets were in some abandoned building. Off to the left of the picture is a broken window. So stormy rain water was able to get inside over many years and pooled on the floor. So the cabinets very slowly got water damaged over decades.

Also teenagers and vandals broke inside and smashed up the screens. It was basically one those hang out spots for teens and vagrants.

>>11998687
>>11999974
Only he computer space cabinet could be saved. The rest were rusted or water damaged. What a shame.

Topic said retro gore, not retro kino

>>11998681
How is this retro gore? The only thing being cut up here are DVD-Rs, not the Gamecube itself or it's actual games. And for those asking, yes, this worked. IIRC there were even devices made to specifically cut disks to this size. Not recommended though because the disks will likely fail quickly in that state. Though you could also just remove the top cover, but that would leave your GC and the disk exposed while it was working.

>>11998684
Not gore, Atari just sold the case design/moldings to make these, they weren't gutting and re-painting Jaguars. I do wonder what the fuck the cartridge slot is for though.

>>11998692
That's just someone doing something silly for a photo-op

>>12000519
I am guessing some sort of retro-brite attempt gone horribly wrong?

IIRC this was some kind of decommissioned or I think even crashed cruise ship

>This feels photoshopped
Nope. It's real. I've seen numerous photos of them playing games during floods.

In flood prone areas, they mount the electrical panels on walls up high to avoid water, (or even on the ceiling), and then have the cables come down. They put the desktops on a high table to avoid water.

It's still incredibly dumb. Ignoring the electricity hazard, the water is brown. Also full of bacteria and sewage. They are literally sitting in watery poop.
