I knew one person yes, ultimate Sega fanboy, only had Sega consoles (and all of them), bought only games for Sega consoles and nothing else, not even computer even though they had one. He had lot's of games, bought everything the Sega magazines told him to buy like Guardian Heroes, Sega fans tend to be like this, only cared about Sega and that's why Sega consoles tend to have a great attach rate. I couldn't find games to rent anywhere and most retailers didn't have it apart from Electronics Boutique or other specialists like Games Men or Games Wizards (Ausfag). By 1997 or 1998 I sometimes got a game sent from England by some relatives who were travelling there for Xmas or the like, that's how I got Shining Force III and Last Bronx.

Specifically I remember Panzer Dragoon and the Aliens game (trilogy?) It must have been 98 or something because the Playstation and N64 were out, N64 was 97 here and these lads were focused on those thinking the Saturn was old so I didn't see it often in their house. Funnily enough they had a NES they'd get out every so often.
The Saturn was a tragic moment in weeb history, because it revealed that "Japan makes good games" was actually "Capcom, Konami, Nintendo, and Square make good games".

I'd go to libraries, other schools, even some friend's friends, or random visits to specialty game stores and there'd be 1 or 2 others there who owned the system. While the Playstation was much more popular, even in its day the Saturn still had a decent player support in its day from my perspective.

We loved Sega. I was kind of surprised learning just how few people in America had one. I knew tons of people with a Dreamcast though.
