A kino addition to the lore or just tasteless, edgy filler?
>>
Lisa is the perfect example of the design philosophy of the remake: adding/changing things to the game for the sake of being different than the original, with no regards in how negatively it affects the story and replay value.

Both her cabin and her underground areas are absolute filler with nothing going on that are a chore to go through on replays.
On replays her boss "fight" is just a box to check when you know what to do (unlike other boss fights).
Solving a puzzle being the only way to end the fight goes against the RE1 survival tradition of having two ways to end boss fights (one where you use your brain and one where you use your brawl). And her being invicible puts a damper on the whole point of the Tyrant.
And then there is her (supposedly) unavoidable hit in the cabin when you wake up... because the devs thought it was a great idea to fake danger by forcing the player to get hit (same with the poisonous snake when you get back from the dormitory).... And yes I know it's possible to avoid the hit, i've done it, but it takes such a fast and odd maneuver that you can only do if you know it's coming to the point it feels like an exploit (using non tank controls make it easier but that doesn't count).

Finally her presence also muddys the story. The entire reason the Trevor files were taken out in the original was because it was too unrelated to the main story.... so remake took the trashed bad ideas of the original and though "we can use that!".

I'm not even getting into her physical appearance and how it clashes with the rest of the game, other people will do that for me.

Not a real thing

Why are you talking about German theatre?
>>

I think it was a good idea but it wasn't executed well. The writing is poor, the mortal kombat arena, her immunity to bullets and how unfun her encounters are on repeat playthrough's etc.

It could have been a lot better.

She was supposed to be in the original game but they ran out of time, so it's not filler.
>>

And you were SUPPOSED to make your parents proud but that didn't happen. For whatever the reason she was cut it doesn't matter. What matters is the game we got. The story we got. And be it either time or budget the game was based around what they COULD do. Barry was going to be a cyborg who could lift giant blocks of stone. She's filler. She's a cgi dewback lizard walking around mos eisely

I personally like it, more for the lore than the actual enemy.
>>
I loved it at the time.
>going through the motions of RE1's opening as Jill
>zombie gets up after Barry shoots it
>go behind staircase in main hall to search for Wesker
>see the elaborate door leading downward
>examine it
>locked but hear something moaning or wailing
and the entire REmake experience was like that.
Carefully crafted to throw these unexpected surprises at returning players of the original while staying faithful in most regards to the plot and pacing and direction of travel of the original.

also the famous dog hallway where this time the dogs only crack the windows instead of bust through. the whole game is near constant examples of trying to trick returning fans into a false sense of what to expect.

Not sure why anyone hates REmake unless they are being pedantic.
>>
>>12001174
they've been shuffling that deck since at least the directors cut version

that was like 50 years ago though

REmake 2 has its flaws but I feel like it did this well too.

No she wasn't. Trevor's daughter is named Lisa in the scrapped diary entries but she's just mentioned by name playing the piano or something like that. Absolutely nothing about being experimented on and turned into a monster.
What really happened is that they conceived of a new enemy in shackles while working on the remake, then decided to make her the architect's daughter later on.

>when the game becomes as realistic as it has, and you blow their heads off, the game looks too gory. In Mikami's mind, RE is not a splatter-film kind of game.
>>

It's not the real reason
They made shotgun decaps not 100% guaranteed because it would be too good at preventing Crimson Heads

Screeching about Lisa is the perfect example of contrarian complaints about the remake: Crying about changes to the game just because it's different than the original, with no regards to whether the changes are good or bad even if they have no effect on the story or replay value

Wasn't this a lore tie-in for one of the scrapped RE4 builds? I could swear Lisa Trevor was the result of "the progenitor virus" which is referred to by name in the RE4 plane trailer, probably the virus Leon was meant to be infected with that distorted reality.
>>
>>12000456
Man, I sure am glad I learned that the G Virus came from George Trevor's superhuman immortal daughter who couldn't be killed by any virus they put in her. I was just dying to know vital background details like that. Way better use of dev time instead of implementing the actual canon ending where Chris, Jill, Barry, Rebecca, and Brad all escape together.
>>
>>12001971
Certainly looks like something that would fit in RE4.

REmake in general was kino.

They toned down a lot of the gore in general. Which is weird because 4 was one of the goriest entries in the whole series.

>Solving a puzzle being the only way to end the fight goes against the RE1 survival tradition of having two ways to end boss fights
The Crimson Head elder goes against that too. It's just a slugfest with a superzombie. That place is weirdly out of place for RE1 too, with all the big clockwork gears, coffin spewing blood, and the Necronomicon on the pillar. Felt like something rejected from RE4.

You're right

You have no arguement

I always lol at that one diary file that reads like something from one of Lowtax's old JeffK articles.
