This is burgerjank>walk into any door a certain way, get gibbed>bouncy floaty jumping>enemies sucked towards you with the rpg
>walking diagonally and looking away by 45° increases your speed because the speed vector isn't normalized or whateverwhy didn't you mention this one? i mean it has a technological precedent(sqrt is slow or imprecise af on a 486) but still by far the jankiest thing in the game
>>12000741really? what does the dev being jewish tangibly change?
>>12000748game makes you feel more angry and demoralized
>>12000749huh? only criticism i have is that sometimes you just get lost and not know what to do or where to go next.especially in the expansion, it amplifies the problem a lot.
>>12000740Don't forget how your height shrinks to that of an ant after landing from a jump. Carmack was right when he said that Build feels like it's held together with duct tape. It plays like how PS1 Parkinson's textures look.
Quake 1 was seriously one of the first anti-jank games ever made. The complete lack of invisible walls, how smooth everything is. It just has incredible clarity.
games without jank have no personality
>>12000742Name a retro 3D game that doesn't warp space and physics around the player's viewpoint. Give me a nonretro example if you must.
>>12001002Enemy Zero
>>12001006Prove it. (I should have mentioned the necessity of proof, I forgot which age of humankind I am addressing)
Extremely low quality thread. OP is a fag
>>12000740OP is scared of chad Duke stealing his girl
>>12000749Funny, I felt the complete opposite.
>>12000838>games without jank have no personalityTRUTH NUKE
>>12000838it's impossible to not have jank, it's just that the jank is becoming "shit framerate and high input lag" because of UE5 and shit tier engine design>>12000843i was under drinking age when i first played DN3D, even playing coop with someone who was probably 10 or even 20 years older than me we were getting lost in the life's a beach expansion, that said it's something you get used to even if it is kind of a sign that the level designer could've done something better.>>12001002are you describing floating origin? technically GERMS on PS1 both does and doesn't, it only recenters the world every few seconds of walking.
>>12001546That’s too old and Japanese an example
>>12000838Finally someone said it.
>>12001009You can't look up a video? Saturn uses quads, which don't look like wobbly ps1 tris when scaled and rotated near the viewpoint.
>>12000740Build games are not *required* to be a collection of janky nonsense.
>>12000740Why are Duke, Caleb, and Lo Wang so weak against doors?
>>12000830To this day, nobody has found a way to clip out of bounds in Quake. How many other games can you say that for?
>>12000742Doom does the same thing. So do Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. I personally love it when FPSs do this.
>>12003048Pic fucking unrelated. That (not-retro) game is a terribly-optimized piece of shit. It has nothing on Duke 3D or Blood in terms of quality, even if those games have some jank.
>>12005313it's okay when god carmack does it
>>12005348I never said it was bad that Duke 3D does it. Like I said, I love it when FPSs do that.
>>12000757I like that though, it's like he's bending his legs after landing.
>>12000838TRVTH BOMBA
>>12005323Very much related. Ion Fury was made with EDuke32 as a base. They took the build engine and built something without jank, and the level creators were all seasoned Duke 3D map makers. How is it badly optimized? Runs fine on my machine.
>>12005323> is a terribly-optimized piece of shitSomebody only pirated the preview campaign or the v1.0 release
>>12005557I pirated it years ago and it ran like total shit on my old Athlon 860k box. Not the most powerful machine, but it should be more than powerful enough to run a fucking Build engine game.>>12005590You mean they fixed the performance issues after?
