Hello, people. I'm going to translate an old game called "serial experiments lain" into my language. Are there people here who can help me with this? (for example, writing software or parsing game files). I tried to rummage through the files myself, but I can't find the in-game text (just in case, I'm going to take the PS1 version. I am aware that there is a ready-made web version). In general... I'm sure there is text in the game for 2 reasons:1. The game has a font2. There are no pictures with text in the textures(although the fact that there is text inside is pretty obvious, right)In general, I'm looking for help with parsing game files and writing software. I will be grateful for any help provided.
Bot thread.

>>12000849Serious answer: get in touch with the people who made the web version or managed to port the translate to PS1.

My problem is that I want to find the text that is stored in the game somewhere (well, actually I found part of the text. It's in the game's code, so it will be edited... It hurts.)>>12001589Honestly, I didn't know about it. I would be very grateful if you could give me a link to them or contact me right away. In general, where to contact them mono>>12001515I'm not even an American...(please joke and laugh about it somewhere else. if the object of the jokes is the way I write, then there's nothing I can do about it, because I use a translator. well, if it's something else, then I'm letting you laugh at me 100 years after my death)
OP./vr/ is the wrong place to ask for that technical stuff, you'd have more luck in gbatemp or romhacking.net (although I think the last one is closed). But I'll humor you regardless.Look, you can't just open the PS1 files inside the CD and expect to find readable text inside them. That's not how it works at all. They're not actually text files like a .txt you open up in Windows Notepad. What you have to do is analyze the game code to find where the font is being called from, and then you make a table that correlates each hex value to a letter or number in that font. This sounds really technical, but it's actually the most basic part of a translation. Then you have to look around the files to find where the game scripts are, and then study them to see how the game displays text. For example, if it has bold letters, italics, if it displays text in different colors, and so on. And that's not something you can do without at least a basic level of know-how.So I'm not trying to dissuade you from doing this at all - but you'd probably need at least 2 years to learn everything necessary to make this translation all on your own. There are programs to help you with standard stuff, but almost every game has its own quirks, meaning you have to be capable to write software yourself to deal with those quirks.tl;dr It's over.

>>12001631>because I use a translatorWe know. This goes to all other ESLs as well, WE FUCKING KNOW.
If it's like other games the font is actually individual images just placed on screen. There wouldn't be a traditional script in the files.
