Tell me about Jet Force Geminiit looks like the Star Fox Adventures beta and probably should've been on Gamecube but it seems really cool for an N64 game. the only complaints i find online are literally 'you have to save all the Tribals to win instead of sacrificing some'also it seems pretty violent with how the enemies and Tribals blast into gibs and splatter blood everywhere.
>>12001608I had an advertising tape that had a trailer for this game and either majoras mask or DK64 on it. I used to watch that tape all the time and really wanted this game but never ended up playing it.
>>12001608I hate how this game is legit excellent but people barely talk about it. And it's a Rare game, so the N64 fanbase doesn't have an excuse.
>>12001608>Play Vela most cause she cute>Has best equipment, weapons and ammo>Completely wipes the floor with the final boss>Suddenly decides that she is "no match" for the boss and have to fight the final phase with JunoFUCK YOU! I still remember at the end at the last phase pling-pling-pling finishing him off with the empty pistol.
TOTAL DRONE DEATH
Well it was made by a lot of the same team as Star Fox Adventures and Diddy Kong Racing. There’s actually a few race courses in the game, and one is lifted directly from Diddy Kong Racing. A lot of the planetsry environments look like they would fit right in Starfox Adventures. Its a third-person shooter, but not really a cover shooter; there’s more platforming and a lot of focus on collecting all the guns, tribals and ammo upgrades, a bit like a typical collectathon. You use keys to unlock doors and special abilities like the jetpack to unlock new areas. Shoot your way through the level, explore, collect all the stuff and beat the boss is the formula here. It’s true about the tribals, but it’s kind of the point of the game to go through the levels, explore and collect the tribals. It’s a third person shooter combined with a 3D collectathon platformer. Of course you gotta get all the things to get 100%. Otherwise you didn’t beat the game. But, this annoys some people now. Some tribals are hard to find and you’ll have to look. That’s the game. If you don’t like it I’d try MDK1 or 2, Winback, Duke Nukem or another more linear TPS. Try to get all tribals in every level the first time. It’s not always possible because sometimes you gotta come back with new abilities like in Metroid or (or Banjo-Tooie, to keep the Rare comparisons). I think people don’t worry about the tribals and then have to replay every level at the end. That would be a lot.You can try a bit of using cover, sniping, using rockets/grenades and shooting around corners but your best friend will usually be the machine gun. That gun and keeping your character moving with strafing is usually your best bet. The three playable characters have different abilities and different places only they can go, like DK64. Make sure to collect a lot of Tri-Rockets (at least 40) and homing missiles with Juno because he fights the final boss akd you need them. The bosses are tough but fair.
>>12001686A reasonable post on /vr/? This isn't real.
>>12001723could be AI, too well formatted
>>12001728COULD be ai? You need to train your ai detection muscle the future is barreling towards us as we speak.
>>12001728It isn't, it's pure autism, which if you think about it is another type of mechanical human.
>>12001686There’s a Descent style minigame where you fly a little robot and try to collect or destroy something in a limited time that mixes up the action a bit. I think only one needs to be completed to finish the game though. It’s very similar to what Perfect Dark would later do with its own controllable droids. The boss battles involve shooting but they limit the character to a 2D plane, reminiscent of the snowman fight in Donkey Kong Country 3, but with full aiming. The music is great and has the whole Star Wars Space Epic feel going on. Graphics are standard Rare, good for the N64. There’s some entertaining multiplayer options. All in all Jet Force Gemini is an intesting mashup of genres that works pretty well. Biggest complaints most people have are the outdated controls (no dual sticks) and the collecting.
>>12001723>>12001728>>12001729>>12001738I am 100 proof grain autism
Generally TPS don't have you going back to previous levels scouring the area. I get why people don't like that when they want to have shoot outs. I didn't enjoy the tribal aspect as well.
>>12001729It has typos and awkward phrasing that I don’t think an AI would spit out. It’s obvious effortposting.
>>12001742This game wasn't made for dual joysticks.
>>12001791>It has typos and awkward phrasingSo in a decade any well written post will be accused of being AI?
Reminder that you can vastly improve the controls by setting "Expert controls" on the option menu. It lets you move in all 8 directions while on aiming mode instead of only left-right.
The art is great but there is a reason why no one talks about it, it's a terrible game.No draw distance, lag, bad frame rates, characters get in the way of the action you need to see with a weird camera, enemies just pop into view because of the bad draw distance. Music is ok, character designs are unique, but it's a solid 5/10 game that is quickly forgotten for a good reason and never makes any 'hidden gem" lists. The RARE game even RARE wants to forget.
It's unpleasant to play
>>12001954>RARE game even RARE wants to forget. They did a pretty cool video about ithttps://youtu.be/Pqn-sej15aM?si=wyVe032vGvLU8oF9>>12001964Do this >>12001947
>>12002071Cool video but that was also over a decade ago.
>>12002225>but that was also over a decade ago.Want them to keep mentioning the game year after year?
It's cool but it's not that cool. It's not better than Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, Blast Corps or DKR but it's better than Banjo Tooie, DK64 and Conker's Bad Fur Day.I liked the boss fights though, I found them satisfyingly challenging.
>>12001746>100 proof grain autismYou are drunk.
>>12001608The super low rez poster in banjo tooie gave me boners as a kid.
>>12001608I loved this game as a kid, but I bounced off it after trying to make the controls feel good on a DualShock a couple years ago. I think it's the only game I've run into where I wish I had an actual N64 controller.
>>12001686Well that is weird because Diddy Kong Racing and Jet Force Gemini were my favorite N64 games while Star Fox Adventures was my absolute worst game.
>>12001608Game sticks out for me because I knew a little shit who owned an N64 and lots of games but never wanted to play the multiplayer games with me because they were "boring". It's the first game I experienced with asymmetric co-op. Player 1 controls the main character and Player 2 controls a little drone that can shoot enemies but can't actually move around or explore on its own. Similar to the co-op on Mario Galaxy.
nice music.controls are a but fuckey but you can get used to it.the tribal collectathon at the end is really awful because you basically have to go through most planets 3 times because each as special ability and tribals are in shitty areas sometimes.the shotgun sucks
>>12001608I like this game, but I fucking hate the shooting controls and fighting the camera.
>>12001729Why do zoomers think anything longer than a few sentences has to be AI generated?
Great game, and how am I just now noticing how big her chest is and how her panties are showing and butt is hanging out.
>>12003621games used to be made for boys/men
>>12002261I think he means they have let the franchise die on the vine 10 years later
>>12003621Back in 98 a majority of kids playing video games were boys ore teenagers. About 99%The same rings true today, just now there is waaay more people playing video games then ever so that 1% that is women that use to be 100 women in the 90s is now 10,000. But never forget, it's still just 1%
>>12003772Girls like boobs and ass too.The ones pushing the anti-sexy agenda today are ugly feminists.
gameplay is fine until theres ants with shields and you either have to have explosives or use manual aiming and the manual aiming does that thing where it always pulls to the center
>>12002976Star Fox Adventures wasn’t finished and was absolutely shredded apart and frankensteined together again. It was originally going to be Dinosaur Planet in N64 and have the boy and girl main characters kind if like Jet Force Gemini. They stuck Starfox in late and cut content, rearranged stuff and altogether beat it until it was unrecognizable. It’s the zombie of the game it was going to be on the N64. With a very nice looking tail on Fox.
