Does the translation patch still crash the game with no survivors?
>>
You posted it, OP

I thought Wachenroder was the broken one? Is Linda Cube broken too?

Both FM1 and Gun Hazard have been translated for over 20 years now, anon.
>>
>>12002967
It's still on 0.95.1 and hasn't been updated since May 2024 so no I don't think the crashes have been fixed
>>
>>12003441
Where exactly does it crash? Can it be avoided?
>>
>>12003441
Pretty funny that they treated the translation like some monumental achievement that also warranted donations for a special cause but they didn’t even bother making it work properly lol.
>>
>>12003441
Which crashes are you talking about? Pretty sure the game is playable, although I played the untranslated Saturn version.
>>
>>12003441
>0.95.1
Can't even find this version on a quick google search. Only version that's easily accessible for me is the one that released in January 2024.

>>12003469
I don't even think I got it to run back when I tested it out on my Vita (this was back when there were threads about the translation patch frequenting on /vr/). If it doesn't have a proper .EBOOT then I can't really be arsed to bother, especially not for a JRPG. People online mention it crashing after a certain cutscene, don't think there's much you can do to bypass something like that.
>>
>>12004030
Sorry, I think I got the last digit wrong, should be 0.95.9

There are some people complaining about the translation being "woke" or some shit
>>
>>12004279
I know the translator was virtue signalling about Palestine and "indigenous peoples" when it finally released, so probably that.
>>
>>12004290
Lol man, if there’s *anything* that makes people turn their nose up at good work, it’s moral grandstanding. Turning something as niche as the translation of a largely forgotten “classic” into an opportunity to virtue signal is the absolute pinnacle of pretension. The fact that it doesn’t even work properly is the icing on the fucking cake.

Part of me wants to believe they had to fabricate this grandiose connection between real world politics and their translation in order to motivate them to keep working on it. Too bad no one told them how bad it would look if they actually publicized that sentiment lol.
>>
>>12004313
Yeah it sucks because there's been very little discussion about the game still despite being a cult classic holy grail for so many people. I still haven't seen any proof the translated version crashes though, I guess I'm going to have to play through the translated version to check.
>>
>>12004338
There’s a video of a guy doing a play though of it without any issue, I think. I’m gonna see if I can get an .EBOOT to work. No idea if that latest version posted by >>12004043 fixes whatever issue I had back when I gave it a shot way back when. I’ll gladly embrace the egg on my face if it’s actually functional.
>>
>>12004358
Godspeed anon, please report back. I think it's only a specific route that crashes (I think there are 3 routes?) But i don't know which route it is. Haven't played the game yet.

Alright, sorry anon-- just now managed to sit down and give this fucker a shot. No idea what the differences between these entail, so I'm gonna just go straight for the English patched one and see where that ends up. It's downloading at a snail's pace, though, so don't expect any updates for at least another hour or so.
>>
I played Linda on mister, encountered both one hard and soft lock. The end movie for the second scenario would never play until I unpatched it and one time while hunting a rare animal the game froze after I used a soecific spell on it. Pretty annoying, but if I ever replay it it'll be for scenario 3 only.

This is why I wish I spent time learning Japanese when I was younger. What’s the deal with translators being severely mentally ill?

There was an anon on here a few months back who was talking about making a guide for Wolkenkratzer. Hope he's doing well.
>>
>>12005384
huh, I wonder if that was me. I started playing it after I finished a guide for another jp only game back in like may but couldn't really get as into it. I've been trying to get through weltorv estleia lately.
>>
>>12005387
I've seen that one but haven't played it. How is it? It's crazy how many untranslated games there are for PS1 alone. I beat Wolkenkratzer a few years ago and have been thinking of playing it again but there's so much other stuff out there I want to try.
>>
>>12005298
>What’s the deal with translators being severely mentally ill?
Seems like most passion project programmers in general are severely mentally ill kek. They undertake these unusually complex and highly niche projects that take years to accomplish while simultaneously dealing with the many pitfalls of software development, not the least of which is general disillusionment. Going a little crazy just kinda seems like it’s par for the course.

>Wolkenkratzer Shinpan No Tou is a first person rpg in which the player make his own character (male of female one) between different kinds (warriors, magician, etc) and start climbing a dungeon tower. Before start the tower the player can visit the town and buy different kind of weapons and items.
The fuck, this sounds awesome. Is it good?
>>
>>12005418
That description is a bit deceiving. It's only first-person during the stair climbing bits between the tower floors and I guess in the static hub area where you can talk to a few NPCs. The actual game portion is a janky 3D 1v1 fighting game with roguelite and RPG elements and cinematic first-person stair climbing. If that sounds interesting, I'd check it out. Hell, I don't even remember an item shop, but it's been a few years. I can give a few pointers if you do give it a try and can't figure it out though

>I've seen that one but haven't played it. How is it?
It seems really tough so far, but I went in completely blind. I've never played Fable, but from what I've seen of it this really feels like a proto-Fable. You have 4 little "emotes" (one of which is pulling your sword out) that you can use on literally any NPC and get some kind of reaction. Some of them are just kind of stock reactions, but a few have been pretty amusing.

It has a character creator that's also actually pretty impressive for a psx game. You can set your height and weight with sliders and it actually changes your character model in real time. It even lets you pick your character's dominant hand and has full RGB sliders for picking your starting equipment colors.

It's really tough though. The very first enemy I ran into brought me below half health, and I don't think sleeping at an inn even recovers your HP. Seems like you HAVE to buy items for that. I dunno if I just picked bad starting stats or if it's just a pretty hardcore game yet.

I was shocked to see a remake of Famicom Detective Club for the Switch, I played the SFC's remake with a translation patch a million years ago.

>I can give a few pointers if you do give it a try and can't figure it out though
i'd take any hints i can get. i played it for a bit and still couldn't tell if there was any actual reason to talk to the NPCs in town or leave the tower early. it's such a weird game.
>>
>>12007554
I'll see what I can remember. I think NPCs just give you advice or lore, which can be helpful but isn't strictly necessary. The main advantage for leaving the tower early is because you can keep your items and the moves you pick up between runs. You have to finish the tutorial tower before you go to the main tower, so leaving isn't as important there.

After a battle, you should always search a floor for items, unless there's a particularly fierce monster loaded for that floor. (You will only fight the same monster you fought before when you search.) If you get interrupted by a battle during the search, you can keep searching until you can actually pick items up. You can also rest several times if you need to. The moves you pick up in scrolls are random and the main things you want are good jump-in attacks and pokes. The character stat buff items only last per run so it can be good to save those for later runs.

Before a battle during the stair climb, the floor monster will make a sound and you will also be able to search at the door and it will give you a distinct hint about which monster you are going to face. In the beginning monsters don't really require much preparation, but later on it's much easier if you know what shield to use. You should keep one of each elemental shield and switch between them as necessary before fights. If you don't want to learn them by playing through yourself you could probably watch some playthroughs

There are some spellcasters starting in the 20s floors that are pretty nasty. Late 20s floors there's a headless spellcaster guy with his head in his hand that requires an ice shield, I remember that. I think the early 20s floor spellcaster you want to use an energy shield. A lot of monsters will breathe fire or have ice attacks so it's good to know ahead of time which ones require which, and switch before going in.

I played very defensively with lots of blocking and waited for big attacks to strike.
>>
>>12007714
Oh, and watch out for the samurai
>>
>>12007714
So is it a game where being a caster yourself isn't a great option? I started as a warrior type and never really looked into the spellcasting.
>>
>>12007739
I played through as Ranger for the healing spells and occasional offensive spell against a hard opponent. I'm guessing playing as a full caster would be much harder, but I'd have to try it myself to know fore sure.
>>
>>12007739
Shit now I'm checking out some playthroughs and looks like I only got one of the endings. Guess I'll have to fire it up again at some point and try a magic build.
>>
>>12007763
oh damn it has multiple endings? is it just based on your class or something?

2 is the best but it remains untranslated

Don't give a shit
>>
>>12007827
I'm only seeing it on hacked playthroughs but there's a floor 100 boss, although the credits roll at 50. Probably have to playthrough again after beating it.
