Back then games were so simple a developer could launch a game and its sequel at the same time.
>>
>>12003657
Then follow it up by a game that's half the content of those two...
>>
When you think about it, all games were indie games. That goes double for handheld ones.
>>
>>12003687
They really went all out with these 2 games, and it's crazy to think they were even planning to have a 3rd.
>>
you can still make gbc games today, easier than ever and on the device you're reading this post on
>>
Not the same developer, but it's insane to think about you could have such synergy that Metroid Fusion and Metroid Prime could release on the same day. Crazy to think about.
>>
>>12004954
That's just well planned marketing and release dates. The neat part though was the fact that the two games do connect so you're right on the fact that it took skill and effort on both teams to make it work.

>>12003723
Lol Capcom is not some indie studio, holy fuck, are you brain dead?

>>12004423
This guy has the right idea. GB Studio is crazy cool for what you can do with it, and it's fucking FREE
>>
>>12005165
Retard.
>>
>>12003723
Not really because the tools to make the games were not the ones indies have. They had to do coding wizardry which indies don't have to

LA is better

And beating one unlocks content in the other even
>>
you know full well people are so cynical now, that if they did this again people would call them money grubbers and say it should have been one big game.
And they would be right, potentially.

Because the game was rushed.

Zelda's Adventure is still shit

I can make GBC games on a Wii U?
>>
>>12003687
Minish cap was carried by its sprite work. But holy fuck is it a slog to get through before you can even do a single dungeon
>>
>>12003657
i thought you had to own both to play these, was that not the case?
>>
>>12007095
Even back then then I recall a lot of confusion that they were two complete games of their own rather than just Pokemon-style alternate versions.
>>
>>12009389
Only if you want to fight Ganon
>>
>>12003657
It wasn't they were simpler it was they were more talented and smarter.
>current dev : i am making muhh retro indie game for PC, is retro style with retro graphics you need an i9 16 cores, 2 GB vram and 16 GB ram to run it perfectly.
>old dev : i am making my game on my own, you can grab it and play it, specs? Don't know probably 166 mhz cpu, 512 kb ram and ddraw so anyone could run it since is famicom style.
>>
>>12009389
They're two full separate games, but there's additional content when you play one after the other.
You do not need two gameboys and a link cable. A lot of people think you do.
>>
>>12003657
The Day 1 DLC of its day.
>>
>>12011446
I thought thar for years. When I found out it was just a password I got psyched and played them on 3ds v console immediately. Quite good games. Wanted to fuck the chick from OoS back in the day. Still do desu
>>
>>12003657
This was the result of companies trying to copy pokemon's twin version strategy.
It didn't always work because so many people thought they were the same game with minor differences like pokemon was.

The trend died so there's no reason to do it anymore. Just make one game.
>>
>>12011463
Then .hack came along with the "episodic" format for a multimedia franchise.
>>
>>12011463
Well yeah. The point of Pokemon is you're only supposed to buy one game, and it encourages you to link up with your friends.
There was no real reason for them to handle the Oracle games like they did, and it probably only lead to people playing less of the games. Like I only played Seasons as a kid. My parents weren't going to just up and buy me two games at once.
>>
>>12011501
lol, must be sad being an only child. my brother "owned" reasons and i "owned" ages but we played our own games through both.
