I like it better than SMW but it's too different to compare directly
SMW is more focused on pure platforming and Yoshi's Island is more about exploration and gimmicks

Yes it is. And I'm afraid nothing else will surpass it. The environments are beautiful, the music is astounding, and the controls are fluid. Nintendo created absolute peak that has yet to be toppled.

Listen to the athletic theme, I'm serious. That music did more to brighten my spirits when I was depressed then woke "mental health" counseling ever did.
