What made Devil May Cry 2 so poorly received? If Capcom ever remakes it, do you think they’ll address its major flaws?
>>

sameish and high difficulty

samefag i meant easy reverse brain thinking in play
>>
it feels noticeably unfinished. The plot even seems to have chunks missing
>>
>>12006818
it has literally none of the things that made the original game so liked and in 2003 there were a ton of games similar to devil may cry that were objectively better then this rushed game

Capcom would rather pretend it never existed, so no.

nerfed stinger

overpowered guns
swordplay felt week
worse weapon variety than 1
boring enemies/bosses
trash villain who's just a rich dude who wants to take over the world
Dante's character in this one is dull
the soundtrack is neat at least

So as someone who bought this game when it came out here was my opinions on it at the time.
The game is a mess that feels like it has zero polish, the story is nonsense and feels extremely underdeveloped, the actual gameplay is somehow stiffer and slower than 1, the environments range from ugly as sin hallways to boring giant squares in a city, the bosses and main villain all have 0 personality and I genuinely can not remember a single name from this game except Dante and Lucia. There's plenty of other minor gripes like the enemies being uninteresting in every way or the fact guns are extremely overpowered, but generally speaking, it's a subpar game to the previous entry in every single way.
As far as the positives go the visual fidelity of the game is quite good with high quality models and textures, the animations are fantastic and clearly the place that got the most attention and the game runs at a stable framerate. That's about the most I can muster, it's just not a fun game overall.

It sucked

don't care. not retro

No sense of pacing with stupidly long and empty levels, terrible combat feedback and balance, it is a very easy game also but in the worst way possible with the AI feeling just unfinished and broken rather than just tame like DMC 4 in its default highest difficulty.
I don't see Capcom remaking it since Remakes are made to capitalize on nostalgia, and no one has any fondness for DMC2 so there's no point in polishing a turd.

They will remake it, you will pay $70 for it, and you will enjoy it

>no one has any fondness for DMC2 so there's no point in polishing a turd.
This is such a weird way of thinking. There's no point in remaking games that are ALREADY good. If they're going to remake games at all, they SHOULD be remaking games like DMC2 that needed a little more time in the oven. But that's not the way to make the most money I guess.

>overpowered guns

It's not just that guns are overpowered, they are literally the only option in a lot of boss fights like the giant moth, the demon helicopter, the elemental heads, etc.

Such as?

Something like DMC2 or Daikatana would be perfect for remakes since the bar is set so low yeah. But like you said, it won't make money or anywhere near as much money as a remake of DMC or 3.
>>

Yeah, most people are stuck in this really dumb mode of thinking where they want a remake of a game like MGS3, because "dude, that game's awesome, and I want to play it again!", not quite seeming to grasp that it's already good, and you can just play it again.
If you take something that was kind of borked the first time around, and improve upon it, that's a way better use of everyone's time.
They touched up Nier to reverse the localisation changes, and smooth up the combat. That was good. It was something that needed to be done, really.
