the holy trinity of marpigs
>>
TTYD is better than all of these
>>
>>12007975
t. gaycube zoomie
>>
>>12007969
Snes rpg is actually pretty mediocre carried by the weird and goofy enemies. It’s toddler easy, which most Mario rpgs are but they have more interactivity in battles
>>
>>12007975
Mario tennis on gbc mogs ttyd.
>>
>>12007969
Top two are for babies and boys that use anime girl profiles.

Bottom is for straight men.
>>
>>12007989
>zoomer
>gamecube
>>
>>12007969
PM1 sucks, generic and boring
>>
>>12010623
>generic
generic like what? you do know what generic means right?
>>
>>12010739
It's just the same old generic Mario setting instead of something new.
>>
>>12010751
>what if we got a mario rpg but it was nothing like mario
then what's the point?
>>
>>12010828
Yeah like they did with SMRPG , TTYD and M&L which are far more beloved than PM1?
Yeah that seems to work well.
>>
>>12009487
Yes
>>
>>12011773
I dunno if I'd call the GC a zoomer console considering the absolute oldest zoomers were born in 1997 (with the middle of the zoomer generation being born in 2004-2005). Maybe more of a Zillenial console
The Wii is way more of a zoomer console
>>
>>12007975
TTYD nails improving on the combat formula and the overall atmosphere, but man if the level design isn't a real step down from 64

way too much walking back and forth in horizontal corridors
>>
>>12011793
I was born in 1997 and yes the GameCube was part of my childhood
>>
>>12010623
Don’t worry anon you’re right and ttyd is by far the better game even with its downsides but its heckin based to like older thing
>>
>>12012761
yup. and the hub town dialog recycles way too much inbetween chapters, most characters say the same thing except they substitute a word for a synonym, as if that's clever or funny at all
>>
>>12007969
Could never get into the Mario & Luigi series. The art style repulses me.
>>
>>12013641
I was born in 1996 and the Genesis was a part of my childhood, everything is relative
>>
Paper Mario is a charming game, it makes me smile
>>
>>12010751
>the same old generic Mario setting

Yeah, you make friends with a goomba that has grandparents and go on adventures, that is literally a brand new concept, wtf are you on about
>>
>>12015485
>>12013641

Fucking kids man, i was born in 1987 and i remmeber the Commodore 64
>>
>>12015528
You go from plains to a dessert to a snow place, the final boss is fucking Bowser who kidnapped Peach again, etc
>>
>>12007969
I remember playing supershit saga and being annoyed at having to constantly switch bros with the top buttons, the game felt like a slog

The 4th Marpig needs to be an actual ARPG and they need to do one quick before they turn everything into Monolithslop like with Pokemon.
>>
>>12013641
>be 1997fag
>owned a N64/GCN/Saturn
>played mostly 4th gen oldies on my pc anyways
>feel awfully detached from most Gen Z, but don't fit with hardcore millennials anyways
I wish i experienced the 90s more desu
>>
>>12015531
Yeah, those are the posters making all the "why did [false premise and/or something that could be answered in 5 seconds google search]" as well as the "The NES doesn't HOLD UP today!" and the "I played [best selling critically acclaimed game] for 3 minutes and 23 seconds, IT SUCKS!" threads that make up 75% of /vr/ these days

We'll see if we actually get a new janitor who gives a shit but I don't have my hopes up
>>
>>12016197
Yeah so? Its a great starting place, it was released in the 90s, it was fine for the time.

It was released closer to the original Mario Bros than our time now, so the idea of Mario rescuing Peach wasnt played out. Its a very charming game, go back and play it
>>
>>12017056
Its a shame, the board started off actually decent but it has descended into /v/ lite, and its way too slow a board to have constant bait.

I just want to discuss old games and consoles, actual old ones, and with some insight if possible lol
>>
>>12017376
It was released after SMRPG which had a more unique setting and a story, PM1 has no excuse to be so generic and safe
>>
>>12017398
You played a mario game, with classic mario elements. Mario travels to a desert, a lava world, a snow world etc and rescues the princess from big, bad bowser

What did you expect? If you dont like these tropes, you probably shouldn't play any mario games
>>
>>12017437
SMRPG is also a Mario game
>>
>>12017398
PM1 fleshed out the usual "Mario rescues the princess" plot with golden-era disney-esque whimsy.
Trekking across the desert, finding out who Moustafa is, and uncovering the secret of the desert ruins was absolute ludo.
>>
>>12017398
in what generic mario game do you solve murder mysteries, head to a star orphanage, and go through a zelda dungeon all in one area?
>>
>>12017442
Yes and it has its flaws too. Although i really do like the art style.

I actually quite like generic mario games, i find them comfy. I like New Super Mario Bros Wii
>>
>>12017447
>>12017443
Why didnt that anon respond?
>>
>>12016996
Same but I also owned a sega genesis without a single game I liked
>>
>>12007975
FPBP
>>
>>12016996
im a 98fag and mostly played 64 and platystation 2
>>
I hated PM, but loved TTYD. I didn't like how PM felt like AU SMRPG. Magazines promised me a sequel, and I didn't get it.
Superstar Saga is better thab it had any right to be. Shame the series went downhill from there.
>>
>>12007975
Is that why your remake bombed?

lil bro aint recoverin from that one
>>
>>12016996
Do you even have memories of the 90s? I was born in late 1999 and my absolute earliest memories are from 2003, and even then they’re very hazy.
