>go to buy classic videogame>it requires maxxing out an entire credit card
$1050 would max out your credit card?
>>12008280>emulates it for freeNothing personnel.
>>12008297grim
>>12008280Thank me later
Honestly it is so funny seeing people here complaining over prices, because even for their popularity retro game collecting is mid level when it comes to collectables. Most everything is under $50. There is only one instance of something over 100k (nwc carts), one real instance of over $50,000 (stadium events), and very few examples of anything over $1000. Even all those limited consoles are $500This is really cheap for a collecting hobby. It is mid level because it has a lot and a higher base so it is not the bottom level of collecting, but a hell of a lot more have most expensive collecting prices before even getting to the real high end stuff
>>12008379Anon, it's typical for even the best game stores with the nicest staff to overprice items 100-200%, it's part of how they survive. I just saw a game that is worth no more than 150 bucks with a sticker asking for almost double. The game is not rare at all too. Don't want to mention the game because they come here too!
>>12008369>loading timesmuch MUCH later
>>12008386How much loading time does an SNES game take?
>>12008386They’re almost non existent. It’s a small price to pay considering you’ll be saving hundreds.
>>12008280Emulate it, get the DS version, or get it on Steam.
>>12008384You are not obligated to buy at a game store with inflated prices, still does not go with my argument
>>12008280You keep making this thread.
>>12008386This handwringing about load times is such a 2020s thing.
>>12008418You are a dishonest sack of filth. Just leave if you're going to design your replies to imply that you are GOD and that everyone else should just pray all day for guidance so that they can answer you in a way that pleases you enough to be honest and not a baiting troll that you are.
>>12008453???Is this an ai response?Try looking at collecting cars/motorcycles and if that is less expensive as game collecting
>>12008379Games are unique in this regard because you can literally experience everything the game itself has to offer and more for free in 99% of cases. It's hard to justify paying $50 for something you can do for free, let alone $1000. >>12008453Man, these ESL posters on /vr/ are a whole different breed of deranged.
>>12008280these sellers are the ones posting "emulating isn't playing the game" btw
>>12008395>They’re almost non existentThis is a lie.
>>12008379we don't care about collecting, we just want to play with the original media on original hardware for pennies like when the world wasn't a total shithole. kill yourself
>>12008469>Man, these ESL posters on /vr/ are a whole different breed of deranged.I agree, hence my reply to them.
>>12008486>we just want to play with the original media on original hardware for penniesSo does everyone, which is why you cannot.
>>12008486>we just want to play with the original media on original hardwareWhy?
>>12008280>angry bandwagoner>wants to buy memes>1k creditWell there's yer problem
>>12008469Agreed. And somehow it feels like the same Mexican teenager doing it.
>>12008280You have a 1050 usd credit card limit?
>>12008297>>12008361pretty average for americans. many people have horrible credit scores and are up to their eyes in debt
Imagine being such a poor retard that your credit limit is $1,000.
>>12008369Did this come out in the UK? I remember my cousins have to import Chrono Cross.
>>12008591No, OP is a Mexican zoomer still living with his mom and thinks credit card limits will not go up to $1000 dollars. Forgive him, he’s stressed about his third period math test tomorrow.
>>12008602>using your parents credit card to buy a $1000 copy of Chrono TriggerWhat’s the appropriate punishment for a child as stupid as this? Do you just admit your failure as a parent and spend the rest of the week playing CT with him while your life falls apart?
>>12008609it will be worth 10 times more in 5 years
>>12008280You don't need to buy fetishes to access the ROMs. You can just play the ROMs, even on original hardware :O
>>12008614You’d better fucking hope so. Otherwise you are gonna sure look like one stupid asshole.
>>12008614nope all these hoarding millenials are gonna die then their zoomer kids will all rush to sell their coomlections for pennies on the dollar since there will be no buyers
>>12008620>millennials having zoomer kids
>>12008620>hoarding millenialsI promise you, if it was actual millennial nerds/geeks hoarding it, the prices wouldn't be so insane. Even in 2008 I was able to get multiple Mega Drive and Snes games for 2 quid a pop.
>>12008359Emulation is stealing. You are a bad person.
>>12008637So Nintendo steals, is a person, and is bad. Interesting.
>>12008638>but what about Nintendo Nice deflection thief.
>>12008642Shut up, troll. Downloading games is not legally stealing at all, and you most likely download the newest games. Yes, you sound like a massive projecting hypocrite.
>>12008653Not everybody is an insecure thief like you. I actually buy my games and play them on original hardware like a good person.
>>12008663I’m a thief and a good person and a bad person and not insecure.
>>12008668You can't be a thief and a good person and the fact that you can not accept what you are proves that you are insecure. Its okay though, everybody else who emulates (steals) games is just as mentally weak as you.
>>12008676I’m a thief and a good person I don’t get what’s so hard for you to understand about that. Maybe you’re just a bad person.
>>12008705Cope. You are not a good person because you steal
>>12008668>>12008705Don't answer for others, troll. This board is hellbent on equating infringement with theft.I'm thinking this board should be deleted at this point, or maybe ban the trolls. One of those.
>>12008676how do you acquire new retro games to play? if you say the 2nd hand market like ebay and the like, you're also stealing because none of the money being exchanged is going to the manufacturer
>>12008709>lies about how buying games second hand is stealing to justify being a thiefAnd yet you still insist you are good person. Pathetic.
>>12008469Im genuinely sick of thirdie shitting up 4chan with their inane gibberish. Smartphones were a mistake.
>>12008715>no responseahhh, the thief masquerading as a moral entity reveals itself!
>want to buy SNES or Saturn game>have to sell my house to afford it>oh wait>Japanese versions are 1/100th the priceGonna go buy Super Famicom Chrono Trigger for cheaper than a fast food meal, later OP
>>12008386Non-existent for this game.
>>12008637It’s not immoral to steal from the rich.
>>12008395It takes like 5 seconds to load the menu. And 10 seconds to get into battles. It’s that bad.
>>12008379Nice flex, richfag. I still think collecting retro vidya is an obscenely expensive hobby, especially given the ease of emulation these days.
>all the reseller scum harping on about hyperbole to prevent anyone engaging with the point
>>12008637From who? Nintendo sure as hell isn't making money from 30 year old SECONDHAND cartridges.
>>12008638>Nintendo is a personLegally speaking, all companies are people.
>>12009192Giving corporations human rights was a mistake.
>>12008709But who is teh moneyfacturer when it's released later on bleystations and later back ds
>>12008602>he’s stressed about his third period. And math test tomorrow.
>>12008706I completed Chrono Trigger on a flashcart with a stolen rom and stolen electricity
>>12009278Typical emufag. You're all criminals.
>>12008490no shit, but it doesn't change anything. it's like saying it makes no sense to want to avoid serving a 6-month jail sentence because it's not a felony. I DON'T FUCKING WANT CRIMINAL CHARGES TO BEGIN WITH
>>12009224I agree. It's dystopian.
>>12009287>BUY MY LISTING!lolno
>>12008379The problem is that it USED to be a poor man's hobby, like high end stuff was a few hundred. Granted, most people who have been around since those days likely have a good chunk of what they want, but it doesn't make it any less irritating to have to compete against the droves of Newfag McMoneybags collectors/investors when ultra-rarities finally show up for sale.
>>12009287I didn't emulate the snes. Anyways you are only a criminal if you get caught and prosecuted so I'm still innocent
>>12009313>it's only a crime if you get caughtThirdie detected. Us white people have thing called morality that stops us from stealing and other criminal acts.
>>12008280stop collecting plastic
>>12008369consider the alternative
>>12009309Well put. I wish I didn't lose a good chunk of my retro vidya through moves, friends "borrowing" games only to never give them back, foolishly selling or giving away games that I didn't appreciate the value of at the time, etc. I'm happy emulation makes it possible for me to play my old favorites without breaking the bank, even if it's not the most authentic way of playing them.
>>12009313Nobody actually gets in legal trouble for pirating old video games, except if they try to make money off of it, and even that's rare these days. It may not be legal on paper, but in practice, nobody gives a shit about it except for moral-grandstanding 4chan trolls who may or may not even be human.
>>12009320good little consooming zogbot. you WILL buy the $70 remaster and you won't complain while doing it!
>Thirdie detected. Us white people have thing called morality that stops us from stealing and other criminal acts.
>>12008379How about you go collect Funko Pops and other useless shit and leave retro games for people that actually want to play them?
>>12008706>>12008708I always search good in bad. I also search bad in good. So… I am a very good bad boy.
>>12009329At this point you may as well buy a flashcart. Also correct me if I'm wrong but flashcarts in the 00s (not the mega 100-in-1 carts) were cheaper than they are now right? I honestly can't remember but I always remember them being in ad banners.
>>12009527They used to be cheaper but they were also lower quality. I've had a lot of shit flashcarts break on me but newer ones are a lot more resilient.
>>12009567>newer ones are a lot more resilient.[citation needed]
>>12009758Bruh it’s like $10. I think it’s safe to assume that as long as you use it as intended, nothing bad will happen to it. And even if it does, it’s $10. If you’re from a country where 10 USD is enough to make you think twice about buying it, then you have no fucking business subscribing to the “physical media” meme to begin with.
>buying gameslmao
>>12009510>Us white people have thing called morality that stops us from stealing.Nope you don't have, you have no qualms on stealing from poor honest people but if it comes to burst your bubble and attack your favorite company you get enraged.
>>12008280it's cheap on google play.
>>12009758Works for me
>>12009780>all that copelol. You could have coped in a fraction of that like >>12009848. Or better yet, not at all.
>>12008280>turns out the real chrono trigger was the trigger we should have pulled on purchasing the item in a chronologically different era
>>12009864I don’t like collecting junk either, but the only thing more pathetic than acting like physical media is inherently superior is whining over $10 lol.
>>12008280That game was my first preordered game and I am glad I held onto it since it is such a meaningful game to me personally. That is why we must support preservation efforts. Hopefully Square-Enix sees the petition for the game to be on GOG so we can keep it around as long as possible: https://www.gog.com/dreamlist/game/chrono-trigger
>>12009993>only thing more pathetic is whining over $10 lol.Indeed. I have no idea why >>12009780 chose to humiliate they/them self that way. Or why >>12009993 chose to humiliate they/them self by bring up "physical media".
>>12010167Those were all me, though…
>>12008637That's awesome, more people should steal video games desu
>>12010156I tried playing it recently. Didn’t really grab me at all and I put in Iike 10 hours. Glad I never bought it and just emulated it.
>>12008369Man I was so hyped for this shit, you have no idea. CT instantly became one of my favorite games. FFIV wasn’t bad either but it was a lot harder and I got stuck at some point and lost interest.
>>12010245It's definitely a letdown compared to how much people hype it. It's a surprisingly standard, mostly linear plot focused JRPG that has really nice music, and that's mostly it. Battle system is mediocre.
>>12010261It was delightful when I was 10. Maybe you should’ve been 10.
>>12010261Unfortunately, I really wanted to like it too. Music was ok, battle system was kinda neat, story was meh at best even for jrpg standards. I was very displeased when I reached the time keeper place or whatever, where you battle the chibi yeti to unlock magic. Idk, just seemed like they didn’t eve care. Best part was escaping jail.
>>12008384My local store is competitive with online prices, and I live in an expensive area.>>12008379I hate how pricey shit is, but I agree. I was looking into model trains and the prices are fucking nuts for a simple setup just to make a little track with a simple switch or two. Let alone miniatures an all.
>>12008486The state of te world has little to do with it. You can get a PS4 for 50 dollars right now. Games are 10-15 or so. The only times games of a previous era were cheaper was the NES to SNES gap and the he GameCube to Wii gap. Then they go back to up, like always.
>>12010308>My local store is competitive with online prices, and I live in an expensive area. They're a diamond in the rough. In my area, our local choices are eat shit, or get fucked, in terms of prices.
>>12008280just buy a flashcart you spazz
lmao I remember when CT with full box cost like $30. I sold mine once it hit around $100 and realized that I played it on emulator when I actually got around to playing.
>>12008393the rom for CT is larger than the total memory that the PSX has to load it intothis causes issues obviously
>>12009287Criminality doesn't imply immortality. If you can explain to me the immortality of the supposed theft of a 40 year old piece of data, I will concede defeat.
>>12009527 a flashcart costs five times the price
>>12010280I was playing Pokemon, Zelda and FFVII when I was 10, and each are better games.CT annoys me because it seems to like pretending it's more open ended than it actually is, but it's a very much on rails game that's fairly simple all things considered. It's not a game with real meat and depth to it.
>>12009515missedtheboat fag whining eternnally
works a charm
>I reposted the exact same thread for the 28974329th time award
>>12010209Then perhaps you could explain why you chose to humiliate yourself by ranting about $10 and physical media?
>>12009320Wow anon you claim to be a good person yet you are openly racist, your god isn't happy with you right now. Plus you are wrong, you are make me embarrassed to be white
>>12010553There’s nothing to explain. Please understand.
>>12008280So don't. The market is completely retarded by now to the point that you have to Cirno levels of stupid to try and get everything "legit." Take the emulation pill and don't look back. If you absolutely must play on hardware then a system + flashcart/ODE will do but that can also be expensive.
>>12011604Not beating the ESL charges, anon
>>12009780You seem to be mixing up the terms flash cart and repro.
>>12011606It's ok. You don't need to explain. We all have our kinks and you don't need to explain why you get off on utterly humiliating yourself by throwing poorfag cope into a conversation.
>>12011747They’re all the same— fake and gay and $10. Physical media is for faggots.
>>12008280>download rom>use it on notebook with joypad.>nothing personal.Enjoy your shitty money to show off, ww3 will start soon and you will regret your choices.
>>12011925No, they're different technologies. Repros can only play one game.
>>12009842>download cracked apk.Nothing personal faggot.
>>12011939You know any cartridge can be rewritten 20 thousand times or more (original or repro), just think about unholly night that was written on old unsold kusoge cartridge so probably you won't find the original since lost forever (reeks to shaq fu since is rumoured to have been reused by doujin circles suffering same fate as zicco soccer which got used on sm chkyoushi games). This is why collectors deserve the axe.
>>12011678Except the logistics of emulation, especially for a TV setup, are incredibly complicated compared to a console. Even when you think it’s just “plug a computer in”, what kind of computer? Software? OS? Configuration? Proper output to a CRT without scaling? Now you have to trudge through AI slop or useless reddit threads to find any answers. Yes, the games themselves are free, but the hardware isn’t, and time is never free.
>>12008280Did you get the attention you wanted? Did you go on the ebays and cherry pick a listing you didn't like? Did you, anon?
>>12011925>Physical media is for faggots.Only a jew would say this.20 years down the line, the "retro" market for zoomers is going to be hilarious when half the games are unplayable because you need an online connection and the disk itself doesn't actually contain the game.
>>12012042>only a Jew would suggest you are an idiot for buying unnecessary trash What a very sane thing to say. Surely this anon isn’t a lunatic of any sort.
>>12012062Said some digital only retard.
>>12012062Ignore the double spacing, suspecting a reddit AI bot adapted to use here. Not even joking about that since everything is filled with bots and most of internet is done for bots, not joking about that after 5 minutes trying to download something from romhacking still stuck on cloudflare shit "verifying you are human" which doesn't work because use AI bot logic not considering humans will block cookies, will block google trackers, will block ads and use private windows for anything not main (so is clean with no data to sell).
>>12008465Retro gaming will never reach the levels of pure autism of Japanese car fags spending 20k on some random car part from an obscure aftermarket manufacturer that was advertised only once inn august 1996 edition of a low volume magazine
>>12012657Yeah games collector pay 300k for a game made by millions units quite known by anyone and feel entitled to be asked if said rare game is dumped because will lose value (they ignore chinese exclusive games of unique ripoff games made on thousands units).
>>12011725Kek, nothing you say will change my skin colour. Please stay retarded, we are all laughing at you here
Bumping this shit thread cos I hate life
