I don’t understand why jrpg developers give female party members ridiculous outfits like leotards or chainmail bikinis. They make no sense if you want the world to feel at least somewhat realistic while still keeping a fantasy feel.It’s even more absurd when these outfits turn out to be some of the most overpowered equipment in the game. If male characters wore something like that, people would probably call the game homoerotic, yet we barely notice when it happens with female characters, which is far too common in games and media.I don’t mind outfits made purely for sex appeal. Bayonetta, for instance, pulls it off while still feeling believable. But I can’t take an important party member seriously when she looks like a sketchy alley prostitute.
