Just found out about this, lmao https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/08/google-will-block-sideloading-of-unverified-android-apps-starting-next-year/
>>12008902Retroarch is probably just "officially signing in" and that's more or less how it will be.At least android don't block JIT stuff.
Ever since my GPU died I'm using the integrated video chip of my mobo and now Retroarch lags, can't play anything at full speed anymore, not even NES, SNES, GBA, etcanything I can do other than repair/buy a new GPU? I only use retroarch for the AI translation tool
>>12009017you can try turning off v sync and going to video settings to gradually lower the refresh rate until it runs decently. Or tinker with the power plan if you're on windows
>>12008919If Android blocks RetroArch or decent emulators in general I'll want to kill myself.
>>12008883What's with so many people trying to push epsxe lately? It's outdated trash.
How come no emulator has ever emulated the gameshark that you plug into the back of your console?
>>12009017Wtf? Makes no sense.
>>12009282Didn't need to. You can just boot a Gameshark iso and it works fine.
>>12009312What about "software preservation" though?
>>12009316That is software preservation. The hardware is what's not being preserved.
>>12009319The gameshark disc is not the same thing as the software on the dongle thingy.
I'm getting into Saturn emulation for the first time. I noticed Beetle Saturn generates 3 filetypes for its saves:>.bcr (back up cartridge)>.bkr (back up RAM)>.spmc (system info like RTC)Apparently these saves are incompatible with other Saturn emulators. For example, Yabause generates .srm files. When dumping saves from a real Sega Saturn, the raw format appears to be .bup. my question is, is it fairly straightforward to convert the Beetle save types into a format that can be read by a real Saturn? Would it be a matter of converting the .bcr (or .bkr) into a .bup or is it not so straight forward?
>>12009274>What's with so many people trying to push epsxe lately? It's outdated trash.I don't think OP is trying to push it. It's just a nostalgic image because it's what we used when we were 12Of course these days you want to use Duckstation/Swanstation or Mednafen/Beetle PSX
>>12008902>>12009138One of the few reasons to get Android over apple and they're getting rid of it. I miss when I could download porn apps on my shitty old Samsung. I remember a alternative app store just for porn. Those were the days
>>12011265A mobile/handheld focused fork of Linux needs to be developed. Android is rapidly deteriorating into closed garden bullshit and has been doing so for several years now.
>>12011283Now that I think about I can se the logic. iPhone is way more succssful in the biggest markets. I think thats just cause os is better designed and easier to use though, not the openness. It's both smart and retarded
RPCS3 hasn't had an update in over 6 weeks. What's going on?
>>12011320something with windows (as usual)you can go to their discord and get builds tho
>>12008883>eps(origami crane)e
>>12008883I just started using Smooth Motion on PCSX2. It's neat but surreal how smooth games are at 120fps.
where can i go to emulate atari 2600 stuff?
>>12013096https://stella-emu.github.io/downloads.html ?You can get complete rom sets off of archive.org. Manuals tooOr do you mean a web-based emulator? Then Atarionline.org
>>12013101since anyone can upload whatever they want to archive is there a set or uploader you think is reputable if i end up going that route? pretty sure i got a virus from there once.>atari onlinewhats that? is that some kind of browser application? which one do you think is best? thx btw been a very long time since ive emulated anything.
>>12011320Good, maybe it can finally die so a proper ps3 emulator comes along.
>>12013112You won't get a virus from .a26 files, they're cartridge rom images. Stella isn't going to just open a zip file called a26 and start running exes inside it. The Champion Collection seems to be nice. And yes, Atari Online is a browser-based emulator site, you pick a game, click its link, and it runs the game in your browser
>>12013152when i unzipped a folder of images on archive (literally was just a bunch of emoticon forum images because i was feeling nostalgic also stuff like AIM or YAHOO messenge emoticons) stuff like jpgs and pngs and gifs and stuff i think there was something else that got ran when i unzipped it but i could be wrong. thanks for the QRD
>>12011297The issue is that people don't use Apple just because of that, they use it because it's Apple, if Android settles for being a worse iOS, instead of its own thing, it'll just die, this move makes no sense...
>>12008902It's time for... Ubuntu Touch!
>>12015352>CanonicalFuck, I'd rather get a Windows Phone.
Emulate old LCD Game and Qatch type ganes here. I like Yahzeehttps://itizso.itch.io/retrofab
>>12015835NINTENDOSUE THIS WEBSITE
>>12008883I'm glad someone finally ported ePSXe to PS1
>tool me 3 days to make a PS2 archive>nearly a terrabytethere'll never be another console with literally ALL the games
>>12008883Is emudeck and retro deck needed? Can I not just use retroarch itself? Why are people using it? I'm fucking through with both of these flatpaks nuking all my autistic shader mods and yes I've tried saving these presets to a core.
>>12016186>Is emudeck and retro deck needed? No, it's not needed. It's something made for normalfags to set up emulators. You can easily get away with only using RA.
>>12016449Why do they do it? Doesn't retroarch also add to big picture/deck mode well?
>>12016487>Why do they do it?I dunno, more frontend options IG?>>12016487>Doesn't retroarch also add to big picture/deck mode well?Yeah, but you'd have to remap the back buttons to keys in gaming mode because RA thinks you're using a 360 controller for some reason. On desktop mode, the back buttons in RA work like they should.
>>120160631TB isn't enough for PS2.
>>12015835fed
>>12008883>Linux support is getting discontinued with DuckstationWhat other PSX emulator am i supposed to use on Linux?
>>12016715Same as Windows, Beetle PSX HW.
>>12016726>RetroarchBlegh, isn't there any standalone alternatives?
>>12016730XEBRA, but you'd have to run that through WINE.
>>12016726>>12016763>"On linux? You gotta either use Retrobarf or wine!"Only a decade ago the linux emulator scene was healthy and full of projects, now it's almost all been swallowed up by RA
>>12016063>a terrabyte>ALL the gamesEvery single PS2 dump is 25.34 TiB
>>12016715just arch distro's and old versions will still work and run 99% of games fine, a non-issue.
>>12017023>>12016514>implying i will ever play barbie dreamhouse makeup extremei saved only actually good games and it sitting at around 800GB
>>12017134Missing way too many games.
>>12016715>Linux support is getting discontinued with DuckstationSource for this?
>>12017161im really not.i have around 300 and know i'll more than likely still never play most and that was with a high quality critetia.>>12017296the lead on the project announced it on his social media like two months ago.he got tired of arch trannies pestering him about packages or something so killed all support for ARCH, changed the licence and took down some public uploads of duckstation.again its only arch distro's, debian and others are still supported and duckstation still werks on arch, it just wont get updates anymore.
>>12017431>the lead on the project announced it on his social media like two months ago.And yet they made a new linux release package just last month. Even if the lead dev was in a pissy mood, you can still compile it and somebody will keep packaging it for linux
is there a mini pc available that can emulate up to PS2 / Wii at 1440p ?i bought one in 2018 and while it can emulate PS2 it's only at native resolution.
>>12018361what is a mini pc? like a laptop?
>>12018367NTA but its a desktop PC the size of a small box you can hold in one hand
>>12018361>2018Things have changed significantly since then. You could find some really powerful Ryzen 7000/9000 mini PCs for extremely cheap. (Make sure to get one with Vega graphics.)
>>12018361That's still going to be a struggle, but 2x res is very doable. Maybe a handheld gaming PC if that counts.
>>12018361I have the Dell Optiplex 9020 an it emulates PS2 pretty well at 2x native res with shaders on a 1600x1200 screen and I absolutely love the little bastard. Launchbox all set up we 12,000 games or so and it plays most things I throw at it. I'm going to get a new one soon so this can be just plugged into the living room TV.
>>12018879what is the advantage over a 400.00 cheap laptop? does it still require an external display? whats the advntage? price?
>>12017431>im really not.Let me guess, no ring of red of aquilla?
>>12016715just use the appimage, it gets updated normally
>>12020245It still needs a monitor. Would be cheaper than a laptop of similar specs, and its also upgradable because its deesktop
>>12019494i was thinking of splurging out with a 9000 series with a dedicated gpu, realistically i would expect that to be capable of 1440p emulation.i know it would be cheaper to just build a normal pc but i love mini ones from the standpoint of it being a tiny box you can put anywhere which even itx isnt.
>>12019529i was thinking more in the $600 - 800 price bracket to be honest anon.
>>12020245usually lower power draw and you get more power than a laptop.my mini pc from 2018 can emulate N64 games and cost $350 at the time, my $400 laptop from 2020 struggles to emulate N64 games.
>>12020292>>12020292yep.ring of red sucks ass and isnt fun to play, it just looks cool and has nice art.
>>12021315With a dGPU it's not going to be a problem. On one of my systems with an older Intel I can only get up to 2x resolution on PS2 and modern AMD iGPUs are only marginally faster, at least on paper. They do have more bandwidth though, so maybe they actually can do it.
>>12021339realistically.i see ones with a 780m radeon chip running some modern games at 1080/60 so i think 1440 would work fine on those.
>>12021398Of course, but that's not a normal iGPU. I was talking about what you'd find in a normal desktop CPU.
