Is it actually a good game or just a meme? I remember when I played it years ago some of the puzzles were very obtuse.
>>12009436>I Have No Loo And I Must Pooa memepseuds think they are smart for playing this slop but they are too dumb to read the actual book
>>12009513I think it's better than Dark Seed at least.
>>12009436It’s ok, definitely worth checking out but it’s not the best point-and-click you’ll ever play. The difficulty and quality of puzzles are rather inconsistent. But the story and characters and setting are interesting enough to make exploring it feel worthwhile.
>>12009436As a game it's alright, there are better adventure games with better puzzles and what not. But story and setting is really interesting. >>12009530Exactly. This anon already said the same thing basically.
I like the bit where the AI is evil
Has anyone played this or Noir?
>>12009436It's fun but a bit buggy and weird.
>>12009436I remember finding the gorrister section nonsensical. like stuff not even making sense symbolically.
>>12009436meme. every adventure game with a serious premise(that isn't extremely generic like policequest) stands out if it has halfway polished presentation.
>>12009436When was it ever a meme? The story it's based on was pretty memorable and famous in nerd circles but the game itself didn't make many waves.
>>12009513the short story is like less than 20 pages, you'll probably read more text playing the game
>>12009513Social media owns your entire mind.
It's pretty good, I recommend it. Problem is it kinda falls apart at the last part.
>>12009513>poo in loo>meme>pseuds>slop>read a book
>>12009436It's ok, extremely overrated but not bad. >>12009675Police quest 2 is peak 80's kino
>>12009513>I've never had sex and I must cope
>>12009513The book isn't even that crazy. Definitely not as good as Jeffy is 5 or the very last day of a good woman.
Recently played this and wasn't that impressed. Great overarching concept, but weak execution. Particularly the scenarios are very uneven, Gorrister and Benny are genuinely weird and unsettling with interesting ideas and choices, but the rest are mostly weak and lame (Ted's might as well be a different generic Kings Quest style fantasy game). The game has many awful puzzles and is the epitome of the point and click non-game that you need a walkthrough to actually enjoy. It also dilutes the original story by introducing a confusing morality aspect to the proceedings - in the original story it isn't explained who any of the victims are or why they are there and it does not matter. In the game AM has something of a point to his hatred with on the nose stuff like a Nazi collaborator character. You're supposed to do "good" things to refute AM's thesis that mankind is inherently evil, and this somehow lets AM's rivals overpower him. This doesn't really make sense at any level and in the likes of Ellen's scenario is particularly baffling. Also as has been said the end is just terrible and clearly unfinished with loads of pointless padding that has no actual effect on the real climax which is confusing and unsatisfying anyway.
There's a freezer/heart puzzle that due to censorship, literally makes no fucking sense. >>12009513The game is longer than the book. The fuck?
>>12009513>i have no wit and i must post
Lol every clip I see of Harlan on youtube is just him being fucking pissed about something.
>>12013372He had a mouth and he had to scream
>>12013372That's what makes him the perfect AM
>>12013372Anybody remember his encounter with the Penny Arcade guys? Hilarious.
>>12009513IHNMAIMS is easily one of Ellison's weakest works and the game is a far better rendition of the narrative.Ellison agrees on this. No Mouth was something he literally wrote in a night.
>>12013372>One of the most intriguing story topics is Harlan Ellison, a tru-fan turned professional writer, and very successfully, too. Harlan, who is infamous among fandom and mundane world alike, can be seen once or twice a year on the Tomorrow show, being interviewed by a cowering Tom Snyder. Snyder can usually be seen after one of Harlan's visits counting up the number of lawsuits Harlan has provoked and praying that the network won't fire him because of the way Harlan tore apart television this time. Harlan Ellison, once called the "Godzilla of Munchkinland" by his fellow science fiction writer David Gerrold, can be likened in many respects to the fannish lore counterpart of Trickster, a basic character in Amerind folklore. There are obviously many differences, but the resemblance runs deep. Unfortunately, Harlan, though a mythical character, does exist.
