Anyone here has experience with these Game Sticks?I've seen ads of them on social network like Facebook or TikTok and I'm sure the emulation must be subpar (I saw nes game with brz-tier filtering) but I was wondering if you can install a better Firmware/OS or something for a better experience.
>>12012007I doubt the controllers are particularly good. Maybe worse than Mad Catz. You could get a USB-C hub to connect your phone and likely have a better experience with RetroArch. Your phone is now a Switch.
>>12012070Yeah the controllers must be terrible but in case I buy one I have a few usb controllers i can use instead.>phoneI've tried but battery life sucks and desu it isn't that comfortable even with a controller clip
That thing costs like 15$, for two controllers and the stick itself, there's no way this thing has good quality.Wouldn't one of those TV sticks that run on Android be better?
>>12012196A USB-C hub charges the phone at the same time. There's lots of other general-purpose computers you could use, but you already have your phone.
>>12012007I bought controllers that looked identical to those ones around 15 years ago. They worked okay, but the analog sticks lasted 3-4 weeks at most. I'd use the left stick but not the right, so I'd swap them around when left broke until both were unusable. They were extremely cheap so I had the bright idea of defeating the stick issue by buying the controllers in bulk. I bought 10 of them in a batch and used 2 more before stopping to ask myself what the fuck I was doing. I then bought a 360 controller which lasted over a decade before I finally gave up on it.
>>12012219Saw a review of it, as expected it only runs nes, gb and genesis games ok, rest is laggy, and there's also a lot of input lag too.I wonder if there's a custom firmware for it, kinda like how there's people doing updates and tweaks to the DataFrog SF2000.
>>12012007>I've seen ads of them on social network like Facebook or TikTok and I'm sure the emulation must be subparLOL, my Dad got one of those and it's absolute garbage. It came with these cheap DualSense ripoffs that were so light you could lift then with a couple finger. (Not to mention every game was LOOKIN' GOOD.)
>>12012007no install ad block
>>12012007you can use whatver dinput controller you want but as always wireless have lot of lag specially xbox ones.yet is a good system to play, and no one cares as long games can be played.>>12012219is good i have one, most complaining are because this made the mister and similar fpga irrelevant (why would someone spend hundreds of dollar on a system that has similar performance and play similar to a game stick that comes with games included). Also there is a difference the X1 is using a linux system and almost running emulators on raw hardware so will be faster and better (wait wasn't that the whole point of mister and similar... HAHAHAHAH!!).
There's an updated version (Gamestick X9 Pro) that has better specs than the 4k Lite, it can play N64, DC, NDS and PSP too (performance ranges from playable to laggy, mostly on PSP games). Was also reading that the SD Card is very shitty (expected) and that you cannot clone it to a better one.
>>12013754OH MY GOD, THAT'S THE EXACT GAMESTICK MY DAD GOT LMFAOOOOOO! I recognized those bootleg Dualsenses right away!
these boxes are mostly shit they will usually put a certain systems games and then ignore others
>>12014580not really it depends on what is on the OS for the hardware.some OS versions have more modern support due to better hardware while other have less modern but still enjoyable selection of games.for example the X9 whil some assume is better in reality is the same as the X1 but with worse heat managing since is a locked box with no heatsink.
>>12013468>similar performancelol. lmao even
>>12012007>I've seen ads of them on social network like Facebook or TikTokThat alone should be a major red flag. 95% of chinkshit you see advertised there is pure garbage. You're better off getting a Raspberry Pi or other SBC, they're a bit more expensive and require a bit more setup (though as long as you're not completely tech illiterate you'll be fine), but you get a more powerful machine and much better community support.
>>12012007The emulation on these things is terrible. Look around to see if they have custom firmware or is available. You’d be better off making your own raspberry pi.
I watched a review of the 4K Lite and from what I saw the performance is the same as installing Retroarch on a Chromecast (nes, gb and genesis are ok and the rest is laggy) or buying one of those super cheap retro handhelds that have KoF characters on the cover. The X9 Pro seems on par with a R36S Handheld in terms of performance and emulation quality, no idea if there's newer builds.
Laughable hoe jew some have become in nu /vr/ not even joking about it.>custom operative system>OS control is almost raw thus better performance then current fpga>cheaper then mister and raspberry piWhile performance issues have been claimed is mostly this "you are retarded leaving the thing connected all time long and the stick has no heatsink so it will be as any system without heatsink or cooling fan but even without heatsink will work better then fpga".>mister fpga : will fry itself playing snes games for 30 minutes if no heatsink or cooling fan.>raspberry : same as mister>PC : lol will reach 130 degrees on bootup and crash.>stick : no issue, will slowdown a bit but you need to simply turn it off for 15 minutes if you played for 3 hours (manual : make sure to turn of the stick 15 minutes for every hour of gameplay). As i see it is some jews mad because is killing fpga and similar.
>>12017017Most have custom modded cpu from high end mobile, the X1 is the best for the heatsink, the others have issue but work kinda similar with similar hardware. As analized>CPU : unknown arm 4 cores 1.7 Ghz>ram : 2 GB>GPU : unknown Opengl support 4.6>space : dependant, custom OSX2>CPU : octacore 1.3 Ghz>ram : 4 GB>gpu : opengl 4.6The x2 is the one that comes with psp and dreamcast support but cpu speed is low for it even if modern octacore add the whole no heatsink and you get the idea (this is why we say modern gens are too retarded, kinda similar to the guyasking why his modern cpu didn't run citra emu if it was modern... but was octacore 1.1 Ghz).
>>12012007I got one, can’t test it tho as it doesn’t fit into any of the 5 flat screens in the house. If I find a compatible tv id be happy to test it out and give feedback but as it is, to bulky so u need your hdmi in a very specific spot on a tv just to hook it up. The controllers feel cheap but I’ve been using a similarly cheap ps3 controller I got for 15 and while not as comfy as an official it literally has no impact on my gameplay. Much like those AliExpress 7 dollar n64 pads which I’ve been using w no issues for OoT, Star Fox 64 and MK64. I still haven’t done my test of the 80 dollar wireless OEM 64 controller vs the Ali express 7 dollar one but when I do I’ll post it on here.
>>12012225>Phone heats up and turns into a baked potato>Battery quickly ruined and has drastically more potential to balloon up and or explode>Phone internals get fucked as they stretch out, adhesives melt>High chances your screen fails and gets the green lines of death down it, repair guy tells you it costs more than just buying another one used>Dogshit touch controls or some cringe controller attachment >WiiU up doesn't have save states so enjoy windowing out to do something then returning only to find the emulator crashed or restartedNow this gaming! You should only do this shit if you don't give a fuk or have no other option. If you only play old shit also consider a modded 3DS or PSP or some shit.
>>12018435Can't you connect it through a USB hub that has a slimmer input area?
>>12018451Probably but I don’t have one. Never needed one before so I’d have to pick one up and I have no idea the cost. Shouldn’t need too tho
They're decent enough for Genesis and arcade games, if they're 10 bucks so it's a good dealthe controllers are shit though, just connect your own
>>12012007>2 days input lag>Stretched aspect ratio>Controllers run on batteries
>>12018449I mostly play emulators on my PC, on a 1ms monitor with a wired DS4 padBut I have a ton of emulators on my phone as well, up to the ps2.I just pair my DS4 and go for it. Battery doesn't drain nearly as fast as actual Android games, the phone never heats up.Idk what kind of chink knockoffs you guys are using but come on it's 2026 already
>>12018605DS4 makes it much better, and I play over bluetooth and have no noticable delay if the emulator is good (some lag like shit). What gen do you go up to on phone because on Xperia my shit starts Gordon Ramsey'ing if you get too high up, although I upgraded about 3 months ago and not so bad (screen failure on last phone due to cooking). Also, airplane mode with bluetooth still on helps and the ultimate measure is no SIM care (anyone who has never tried it, your phone runs way faster and uses way less battery without a SIM in).
>>12012240>I bought 10 of them in a batch and used 2 more before stopping to ask myself what the fuck I was doing.lol
>>12014574Based boomer dad enjoying his cheap entertainment.
>>12018449>a bunch of fanfiction by someone who has no idea how phone internals are designedlol
>>12018676>claims to know about technology>lithium battery are the worst and will damage after certain threshold exploding.if you just knew how shitty those lithium battery are you wouldn't dare to have them near your body.>in case of travel with lithium batteries you need to leave it in a special container box in case it explodes.>lithium will overheat and explode if thrown on water mixed with salt.shit is too bad to even be called secure.
>>12018449iPhone-exclusive problems lol
>>12013754Nothing leaves that SD card gotit but can I loads more onto it no wait last time I got viruses from these 1 dollar mp3 SD players
>>12018449Lol, this ninja doesn't upgrade his phone to the latest and greatest on credit yearly accumulating a huge device balance that will eventually cripple his financial security leading to eventual bankruptcy and homelessness before being murdered by a street urchin who then robs the very last but newest model phone they will ever have. Fucking loser.
>>12018643Actually, he's a Millennial.
