Anyone think they can decorate a better /vr/ pumpkin?

Is that Toy Story? That's nice. I made an intricate Portal pumpkin back in 2008 when my company (a AAA video game studio) held a pumpkin carving contest and I entered it thinking my chances were good. The mid-level executive who was judging pumpkins walked up to it, said "what the hell is this?", then walked past it, giving first place to the most boring possible pumpkin, a generic jack-o-lantern with the innards coming out of his mouth so it looked like he was puking.

I guess it's true that great art is never recognized in its time.
I would love to see a photo of that masterpiece if you have it somewhere.

Unfortunately there is no photo, it lives on only in my memories.

>video game execs of the past 20 years can't even recognize a popular video game
That explains a lot.

That's been the one constant in the "AAA" industry. Time Warner execs had fuck all idea what an Atari was, they just knew it printed money so they sent in suits that knew fuck all about videogames to lead this new videogame acquisition and still decided to meddle with their own appointed leadership anyway.

There is so little joy left in the world that holidays should last a month minimum.
>>
Won't your pumpkin start rotting before Halloween if you prepare it this early?
>>

You should enjoy September, it's a beautiful month. There's even a special Internet holiday in 2 days.

I'm seeing christmas decorations and shit for sale in england this week.
I'm fucking mad. Mad enough that I made a spooky ass halloween cake for game night today, as a display of displeasure.
Not quite a jack o lantern, I made it orange then covered it in tiny eyes.

As someone who works in retail, holiday time is the most painful and soul crushing time there is, any joy I may have had for holidays has been completely annihilated because fat rude assholes HAVE to buy cheap useless holiday crap. Thank goodness I've taken a half month vacation in December this year.

I didn't buy it for Halloween, anon. It's going to rot whether I painted it or not so I might as well have some fun with it.

this is loss.

Even if this story isn’t real it works pretty well as satire for general corporate sentiment. I lol’d

>mid-level executive
These people are the exact same kind of normalfag no matter the company. Might as well have had somebody from the same position in a haircare products wholesaler review the pumpkins.

pot meet kettle
>>
>early-mid 2000s
>games are still improving every year
>society is still mostly normal
>hope for the future
>no smartphones
yep those were the days
