Overall worse than Mark of Kri, but still fun. The second character sometimes decides to go in Rambo while you're scouting and aiming for stealth kills. It seeks that Mark of Kri has better level design, but really lacks the bosses that Rise of Kasai has.

Regardless of the downgrade, it's still fun to play as a barbarian that slowly infiltrates places with stealth kills, plink away at foes from afar with the bow, then switch to an axe and slam yourself into the melee and utterly dismember your foes.

They actually did the AI partner thing fairly well for the time it was made. I never had an issue with my partner getting hung up or acting suicidal or anything. If they're supposed to flip a switch or shoot something, they do it.

But the issue is that the 2 character system kind of compromised the level design because now you had to have all these parallel branching and converging paths. And the boss fights were an attempt to expand on the gameplay but none of them were all that good. Actually I really fucking hated the 2nd dragon fight. Still a pretty fun game though

What's the appeal of the gameplay? May as well play god of war

You get to scope out levels and learn patrol routes. You can pop out of a corner and yank a guard and then pop him in the head with the pommel of your sword then skewer him with it while you whittle down the foes numbers little by little. Then find high ground and plink away at guys from afar and take them out with a single head shot with an arrow. It's a Conan like game in which you're a barbarian and you use more than just your brawn against foes, but your cunning as well. You can still throw yourself into the fray, and it can happen when guards blow their horns to alert others of you, but making it so that situation doesn't happen in the first place is satisfying. It's also fun to just swing your axe around and you see heads, torsos, and even legs fly off.
