My dad passed away. This was his favorite game even up to the n64 release he still asked me to play baseball with him.
RIP.
>>12015284I used to play frank thomas big hurt on the snes with my dad. He liked baseball, too. Sorry to hear about your loss.
I'm sorry for your loss anon. My first and only experiences with this game were when I went with one of my childhood friends to their grandparents' house. It was maybe a 40 minute or hour-long drive on the highway, during which we played verbal "car games" that are lost to time. When we got there, they had an inground pool which was always the main attraction, but we'd inevitably scoot inside to play Baseball, Blades of Steel, and Operation Wolf. I still remember the outlay of that house and its warm, old-timey furnishings. It somehow felt like home even though I'd only been a handful of times. We had to be careful not to step on the sharp chestnut seeds scattered in the lawn.Anyway, this is only to say... These seemingly frivolous games that bring us here are sometimes much more. They connect us through time, space, and memory. I hope you that, someday, you might load up a game of Baseball and have some innings with dad. Take care, anon.
>>12015284I'm sorry for your loss, OP... damn, I should play video games with my dad more often.
it's no Bases Loaded
>>12015284i find hockey and soccer games to be more fun to play. basketball can be ok too. baseball is just really dull.
Sorry for your loss, anon. I'll be sure to play some NES with my dad on your behalf while I stilll can.
New posting meta just dropped.
>>12015284Who was his team? My brother and I used to the shit out of All Star Baseball 99(?) I think on the N64. SF Giants all day.
>>12016035play the shit out of*
>>12015284RIPStay strong anon.
>>12015284May he rest. Your dad had good taste, anon. I'm glad you two got to spend good times together. Life is a fuck sometimes. Sorry, man.
>>12015334>These seemingly frivolous games that bring us here are sometimes much more. They connect us through time, space, and memory.Boy you said it. (not OP) There are several NES games that almost make me cry when I think of the last time I really played them and who it was with.
>>12015284Sorry for your loss, anon.
I like EA's NCAA baseball games they made after they lost the MLB license. the definitive refinement of the MVP gameplay, shame college baseball is so unloved which caused the games to bomb and for them to not continue the series. also sucks they couldn't at least keep going with MiLB, seeing as how Sony never included the Minors in their games.
>>12015284RIP your dad. My mom passed away 10 days ago, I'm a fucking NEET who lives all alone now. If you remember an FF2 (NES) thread from August 31 - September 1, I'm its OP (I was glad I beat the game and was also complaining about the final dungeon being bullshit). Mom literally died while I was discussing this game's mechanics with some anon and then I just went on posting like nothing happened but it hurt so fucking bad

>>12015284i had this game, it's probably my favourite baseball game as well. Youre dad was based and pixelpilled
My brother and I lost our dad last year and it has been the hardest thing in my life. I was working as a wildland firefighter trying to make him proud/help people/ help him retire and he just died one day from a stroke and it felt like all the work I put out was for nothing. Havent gone back to work since then. Saved up a significant amount of money for him to change his life. I remember distinctly training and exercising in the heat visualizing that if I get far enough with this job I could give him the life he gave me when I was a kid of no worries and the ability to do whatever I wanted. mom went off the rails and I’ve been taking care of her since. She went crazy. it’s been an insane amount of stress. I have a lot of videogame adjacent memories associated with him. May post a couple later.one memory I have I’m fond of is watching him play heretic on PC when I was in 3rd grade. I remember being impressed how he could play something so “scary” and blast through the levels speedrunning everythinf ignoring the enemies. years later the n64 came out and I think turok and starwars shadows of the empire blew his mind to play. He would get home from work and discreetly use my n64 at night into the early morning while I was asleep.During covid he and I had time together and feeling nostalgic I got him to try halo and we beat halo 1 and halo 2 together. (He bought me all my halo crap over the years) it was fun because he had never used two analog sticks before so we played on easy mode. he would stop moving to aim and shoot. I would weaken enemies for him and let him finish them off so he felt like he was getting better. he got really good at the scorpion tank and liked the needler. was fun having him play a “modern” game. never got to play halo 3 like we wanted which bothers me a lot because he wanted to. he had brought it up a few months before he died.things are slowly getting better though. my family is slowly recovering. it just takes time.
>>12017224blest and rest to those u care for

Why do boomers like baseball so much?
>>12015284Sorry for your loss
Why are all the dads dying?
>>12021117the other threads were just shitposts, bro
>>12020816in an era before cable TV and video games, it was something to do on a weekday afternoon. Football only played on the weekends, and most cities didn't have a basketball team (and it was mostly just a freakshow for marfan syndrome lanklets before the 80s).
