Pc gamer demo discs were amazing too. Coconut monkey was the host and they had these over-animated menus.

They were loaded with new maps for duke3d, game demos, and my favorite was the pre-release diablo demo disc that could be cracked and played forever (it had some different mechanics and balance from the actual retail release).
