I love to see how people repurpose classic hardware to improve the design. Retro hardware modifications thread!

My favorite is a dental company buying out all the shells for the Atari Jaguar. Just the thought of being a kid who saw commercials for these things with all the talk of how awesome it is and nothing can compete with it. Then your dentist whips out that shell and you realize how it all went so wrong.

I had one and the printer and the camera itself was retarded. It was all about the juggling game.

Does this actually work??

it's possible to do photography with only one pixel. Some kinds of setups result in the image appearing to have been captured from the perspective of the light source instead of the sensor.
>>
>>12015850
that's actually really cool. I wonder what could be done with the gameboy pocket sonar?

Hey guys. Would it be possible to mod the Atari 2600 to make the hardwired RF out removable, somehow? I don't want to mod in composite out, I just want to make the RF wire removable so that I can leave the wire itself plugged into my VCR, even when the console is in storage, as I swap my consoles in and out of my entertainment setup frequently. Pic related - not mine but the cable I'm speaking of.

i don't understand this obsession with constantly defining yourselves in contrast to your perceived enemies, it's pathetically insecure

So true. Have my gold, good sir!

You'll say that about anything nintendo while overlooking how tendie redditors would never dare modify their precious plastic themselves. Case in point, the Tinytendo. A portablized NES with grinded down processors down to the size of a thumbnail which is then mounted on a custom PCB.

Well they might install a backlight into the GBA but that's about it.

Should be pretty simple, just solder an RCA jack in place of the original cable.
If you're lucky it might even fit in the original hole if you remove the rubber fitting, but be prepared you might have to use like a dremel or something on the case.

Thanks brew. If/when I get around to doing it I'll be sure to post results here, whether I succeed or not.

Update: I opened up the 2600, the cable wasn't hardwired after all. Just connected to a female RCA jack on the motherboard. So I'm going to run a short male to female RCA connector to the back of the case I think. Will share results when the parts come in, but since there's no soldering required it's not going to be nearly as interesting as I had hoped. I might still cut a hole in the back of the case to make things pretty, though.
