It deserves it's own thread. A couple months ago the original Deus Ex was released on PS4 and PS5, using the PS2 port. It's 20 dollars and it has trophies. Maybe I'll wait for a sale, the original is special to me, but I wonder why the used the PS2 port.
>>12016549Thanks for the heads up. I just bought it.
>>12016549>I wonder why the used the PS2 port.Because Sony owns the licensing and it's already pre-consolized. Porting the PC version adds legal complications and requires fixing the game for controller.
Other than the controls, what's the difference between the PC and PS2 versions?
>>12016549>I wonder why the used the PS2 port.Cause it's what they can use? They'd have to do tons of work to get the PC version on a console
>>12017309It's got all new assets, prettier version technically. I think there's some gameplay differences, too.
>>12017309Levels are changed to account for console limitations. There are more walls and places that would be one seamless area in the PC version are divided up via loading screens in the PS2 version. Between that and the unpleasantness of playing Deus Ex with a controller, I can't justify playing Deus Ex: The Conspiracy emulated, much less paying 20 smackers to play it when it routinely goes on sale on Steam for 99 cents and can run on a potato.
>>12017368>prettier version technicallyFuck no. The animations are technically better as they are mocapped, but the models are a downgrade, faces looks particularly off. Textures are objectively blurry and shit. A texture replacement pack from New Vision or even just the stock PC version would be a big improvement.
>>12017309There is no limb damage on you. Its just 1 health bar. Medibots aren't needed to install augments. You cant guess passwords, you need to find the note that has the password and it will automatically unlock.
>>12016549>Maybe I'll wait for a sale, the original is special to me, but I wonder why the used the PS2 port. The PS2 games released on PS5 are literally just emulated versions with added features like rewind and save states, the same as Nintendo's NSO emulators. So they require very minimal effort, rather than having to do a full native port of a PC game to the PS5.
