>>12017775Play as Darkside. Learn where the health pickups are on the maps. Once you can beat levels as Darkside (highest HP starting vehicle) you can play as better characters. The AI in Black particularly likes to harass you if you let it, so when someone gets on you, just run away as far as possible so they switch targets.One thing that is lost on a lot of people with Black who are more familiar with the PS1 games is the extreme range on rockets, especially homing rockets. You can shoot a homing rocket into 2 or 3 cars fighting that you can barely see across the map, and it will hit one of them every time because there is no max range and the draw distance in this game is very far compared to other early PS2 games.The giant level where you start on the boat and 1st level where you start on a rooftop are particularly brutal if you don't know where the health pickups are.

>>12017775>>12018053 Personally from my experience if you play like the AI does (driving right at them and ramming the shit out of them and never getting off them, giving them no chance to move) they basically lobotomize themselves and can barely react. You can really easily get rid of Junkyard Dog or Darkside if you just keep PIT maneuvering them over and over and ramming their midside. This works on all cars except Grimm because he's too small.

Freeze uses half your meter, the homing is shit and they get unfrozen too quickly.Shield uses like 3/4 of your meter and doesn't last long.The worst is the inputs. TM2 inputs were perfect but they fucked it up in Black and Brawl. They take longer and are cumbersome Adding the attack button to back imputs is dumb and you possibly waste weapons if the input fails.The damage is also pitiful so anything but Power, Well placed Zoomy and heavy machine gun are worthless.Black is 100% carried by its setting.

God i loved TM as a kid but none of them aged well, I fucking hate the physics and the controls in all of them. I wish you could crash into cars and flip them and cars actually had weight to them like a real car game. They are just spastic party games made for split screen and thats it.
