And GameCube has... GT Cube? Have you tried this hidden gem? Is it good or just tendies and pikmins coping with it?
GT Cube is an arcade-style racing simulator (simcade) for the GameCube that was exclusively released in Japan. It was developed by MTO, a company based in Yokohama (a detail for those in the know). This game is the fourth installment in the series, with the previous three entries available on the GBA. It has a sequel (more like a re-release) on Wii. MTO created an Initial-D game for the Game Boy Color but is better known for their Dogz, Catz, and Horsez games during Nintendo's Touch Generation era (NDS and Wii shovelware).
Is GT Cube the ultimate simcade for the GameCube, or just another piece of shovelware designed for nips tendies to cope with the absence of a true simcade?

Ironic that the only Nintendo console with analog triggers on controller (besides non-Pro Wii Classic Controller, a feature which nobody used) did not have a major car driving game.
At least it did get a port of Auto Modellista: US Tuned.

I tried Auto Modelista on GameCube and the handling felt awful. I'm not sure which version improves it.

It would be interesting to have a racing game that fully utilizes the GameCube's dual-stage triggers.
A simcade from the developers of 1080 Avalanche and Wave Race Blue Storm would have been incredible, especially since they also worked on Ridge Racer 64. It's a shame they were tied up with Metroid Prime Hunters and Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
It's surprising that Sega and Genki didn't bring any racing games to the GameCube.

There's also R: Racing Evolution on GameCube, a multi platform simcade that people only remember for main rival's massive cleavage.

the main draw of Gran Turismo was the car encyclopaedia aspect of it, and most of the attempted competitors simply didn't care enough to replicate that aspect because they weren't made by people who were turbo giga autismos like Kazunori Yamauchi is. the only one who succeeded was Forza, mostly because Microsoft had the money to spend to get the licensing for the marques GT couldn't like Porsche and Ferrari.

Sucks major ass, still better than automodellista

Isn't that girl connected to my wife Reiko Nagase? In Ace Combat there's a pilot related to her, but I can't remember if the girl in R: Racing is related as well.

I know a little about the concept of R: Racing (by reading magazines), but I never got around to trying it. I might give it a go through emulation.

I never think of this game. It is always Metropolis Street Racer

Tendies didn’t care about simcade; they were content with Kirby Air Ride and Mario Kart Double Dash. The grown-up tendies enjoyed F-Zero GX.
