>Beat 2, was alright not as good as 1
>Dropped 3 was bored to death
>Playing this, not sure if I like it, it seems really bland. Keep getting interrupted every 5 seconds by cutscenes.

Does this get better later on?

it's the peak of the series for me i loved being able to switch characters
at the very very least it's still a better game than that disappointing slop 3

Just my personal taste but the Frenchie from Mission Impossible makes 3 bearable for me but the shift from pre-rendered to 3d backgrounds absolutely killed the series for me. 2 is GOATed for me due to the fight with the dude on the beach alone.

I might have to brute force my way through the beginning then, the combat is satisfying but the environment of the first level is really bland with lots of invisible walls and it seems theres a cutscene every single door you walk through which is so beyond fucking annoying. I also don't like having to command NPCs and share my health items with them.

Yeah its mainly the static camera without pre-rendered backgrounds made me hate 3. There's something that feels really off about the combat too, it's just not as fun or satisfying as the engine used for 1 and 2. I hate static camera without tank controls too, they kept tank controls if you use the d-pad but they made the tank controls extremely sluggish.

The peak of the series is still Onimusha 1 for me. Onimusha 2 pretty much lacked all the soul of 1, but at least kept the fun gameplay.

Fun is earned by appreciation. If you don't appreciate something, consider why not and let that guide your game choices moving forward.

I liked it quite a bit, the gameplay design is definitely the absolute peak of the series and the Dark Realm is a legitimately difficult challenge.

1 and 2 are still my favorites-- they were immensely charming. I should go back and try to play 3 again just to confirm that it really is the weakest in the series.
