Quake doesn't even let you aim vertically without inputting a console command to enable it every time you run the game. If they really designed the game for mouse+keyboard, why did they disable mouselook by default and not even expose a menu option to enable it?

I played through both Doom and Quake on a keyboard first. It makes you feel more vulnerable and you waste more ammo which makes both games play more survival horror-like.
