I never even heard of Neo Geo back in the day. The only way I knew it existed was it was a category on GameFAQS.

No. My brother and I got our NG games from this video store in a parking garage. Like… if didn't tell you exactly where it was, you couldn't find it, even with the address. It was this multilevel parking garage and on the ground floor, right next to the pay-booth, was the store entrance. Dude sold all sortsa weeb shit as well as NG and Saturn games. So we'd go to Chinatown for this and that, hit up the garage and head home with a new Neo Geo game
The local game store I went to would just occasionally get them in from people selling them like any other game of the era.
