How were any of these supposed to be portable? Seriously. Unless you're a kid at school with a backpack, or a woman with a purse, how were you supposed to lug these things around? You can maybe fit an SP in your pocket, but you couldn't comfortably sit down like that. The only exception is the Micro. That's the only system I could see myself casually carrying around everywhere.

You have hands.

I never had any issues putting a game boy in my pocket since the game boy pocket. With the original game boy you just carried a satchel or fanny pack like a true gamer.

During the era they released, baggy pants with big pockets were in vogue, so even as something as big as the DS or PSP would fit in them. It was also a time where very few people carried cell phones, which now take up the real estate these would've.
>>
Just put it in your backpack.
>But that's not portab-
Tell that to my kid self playing a Gameboy on an airplane.

I've never seen a smartphone as fat as any portable system. And even if I wore baggy pants with deep pockets, portable systems weigh enough that I'd be worried about them falling off my ass.

>Unless you're a kid at school with a backpack
So, exactly the market being targeted by it. What is the problem here, exactly? Even college-age dudes would've been able to easily carry one around since they, too, typically walked around with a backpack. Stupid-ass thread asking a stupid-ass question, as befitting of zoom zoom-infested /vr/.

smart phone with a real case is more or less the same volume is the sp

people used to wear belts.

I had baggy cargo pants.

You're pathetic lol

my phone with Otterbox Defender is bulkier than a GBA, and weights 13 ounces which is heavier than a Switch without Joy-Cons

i carry it in a mini backpack or other wearable pouch. I never stuff it in my moist and germy pants.

>physically unable to carry a GBA SP on his person
OP confirmed for leprechaun.

Depends on how tight your shirts/pants were. That's how i did it majority of the time.

We didn't wear skinny jeans back then.

I commuted to college on the train through most of the GBA's life and always had one on me.
>>
I can't imagine buying pants without zipper-closed thigh pockets. Imagine being you guys, lmao.

I have carried a brick GB, Game Gear, GBA, PSP, DS etc or something similar almost any time I go out for decades. The most burdensome by far was the Nomad but even that wasn't a bug deal.

The SP is so compact, about the size of the palm of the hand of the person in that pic when folded. If you can put your hands in your pocket then you can put the SP in your pocket
>>
>>12021254
You don't keep your hands in your pockets when you sit down.
>>
>>12020329
If you actually struggled with this you were either a woman wearing skinny jeans or the school manlet.
>>
>>12020329
you can wear backpacks and bags as an adult. although either way growing up i had my ds folded in my jean pockets just fine, what are you wearing where that's a problem? like i could see it being an issue with the original gameboy/gameboy advance maybe but stuff you can fold?
>>
>>12020329
They are about the size of a modern phone
>>
>>12020329
You must be wearing some tight pants then.
I kept my GBC, then GBA in my pants pocket all the time when I was a kid.
The PSP was too big for some of my pockets, but that's not retro.
>you couldn't comfortably sit down like that
You put your handhelds in your back pocket or what?

Buy a shirt with big front pocket. Easy access all the time.

Compared to a modern smartphone, a Game Boy Color is significantly shorter, roughly the same width and about twice as thick. Unless you're wearing super tight pants with tiny pockets, it'll fit easily. A folded GBA SP is about two thirds the length but same width and thickness.
Remember that there likely wasn't a phone in that pocket back when the GBC was still relevant.
