Because why make new content when you can just sell old stuff instead (stuff that failed or underperformed because the audience is too stupid to get it in nintendo's minset).

That shit had like 14 games and some are third party license crap like Waterworld that will never see the light of day again. So even less games are viable for it. That's fucking ridiculous

Unless they are planning some surprised, they already showed the entire lineup of games they will offer... which they are STILL planning to drip-feed despite requiring you to buy an accessory to even use it.
>>
>>12020915
So they are adding Insmouth huh, impressive. Wonder if they'll translate it.
VB has a really small library but all games range from decent to great, no unplayable garbage.
>>
>>12020921
>wonder if they'll translate it
They wouldn't, there's already a good chunk of japan only games on nso that are in japanese only.
>>
>>12020865
The enclosure is honestly very cool but requiring it is stupid. It wouldn't kill them to figure out some way of rendering the games in 2d, if they were any fun they'd still be worth playing without the gimmick in the first place.
>>
>>12020935
>It wouldn't kill them to figure out some way of rendering the games in 2d
Of course it wouldn't, we've had Virtual Boy emulators that did exactly that for what, 15+ years now? We even had the 2DS. But this is the perfect excuse for them to force you to buy an accessory to even be able to play these games.

I wouldn't be surprised if later down the line after sales of the accessory are down they release an update to just play them in 2D without it.
>>
>>12020830
>Why? Just WHY?
the project wasn't completed, nintendo rushed it to market, gunpei yokoi got blamed for it even though he had told nintendo that it wasn't ready to be released. nintendo needed money to fund the n64 and released virtual boy in an unfinished state. yokoi basically told nintendo to go fuck themselves and left. nintendo insists he was going to retire and his departure had nothing to do with the virtual boy (which is nonsense).

With how nintendo fanboys and collectors are I bet this thing sells like hot cakes, nintendo will be printing money. If they even sell 10 thousand that's a million bucks and I'll bet there are way more than 10 thousand nerds with disposable income who will feel like they missed out on part of nintendo's history because their parents never bought them a virtual boy.

How did Nintendo build a cult of adults who eagerly consume anything they release and defend it no matter what? Why doesn’t the same kind of devotion exist for Sony or Microsoft

Do you think they’ll ever rerelease the 3DS with improved build quality and an OLED screen? I like the idea of enjoying its full catalog with 3D effects, but on a brighter, more saturated display.

It kind of pisses me off that the speed is like 97% on the O3DS.
>>

Everybody hates 3D, so no. 3D was worse than motion controls.

Is there some angry curmudgeon higher up at the company who feels like the VB was his brainchild and thinks this might be his chance to redeem himself?
>>
>>12021084
I seriously think a big part of it is the very well designed mascots that they never retire creating some sort of attachment and familiarity. Like Mario, Link, Kirby or DK for example, all child friendly bright and colorful cartoony designs, all very well done. You play a game with one of them as a kid, decades later you're still playing games with them and even your kids are now playing them. It's familiar, safe and always there, you don't want to let go of something like that so you make excuses for mistakes. You even see that sort of attachment with Sonic despite Sega fucking up a shit ton. Contrast that with Sony, where you can go a whole generation or two without their mascots that don't look as good in the first place, or Microsoft where Halo dude looks like a boring generic sci-fi military dude. Ends up making Sony and Microsoft look like soulless corporations while seeing the Nintendo logo makes people happy even though it's also a soulless corporation.

>>
>>12021406
You first. It's a well known fact the virtual boy was rushed out prematurely to cover for the struggling 64 being delayed another year. Yokoi then scrapped together The game boy Pocket to save Nintendo's reputation and succeeded. He left after feeling slighted by yamauchi and the console division and started his own new company. Bandai was the first to contract him and launched a competitor to the game boy. Then yamauchi ordered a hit. The setup is classic, cause a mild fender bender and while swapping information have the assailant hit yokoi. This stands out because Japan has a famously short wait time for emergency vehicles like ambulances, and yet they took hours to arrive.

>>
>>12022224
Stop spreading lies, mate. Do you even know how Gunpei Yokoi died? There was a minor car crash at first, and then when he got out to inspect the damage, he got sideswiped by another car some time after.

The Yakuza would need in a one-in-a-million perfect timing where they distract him with the first crash, hope that he would get out to inspect the damage, and then make it there at just the right time in order to get him with the second car. There's no way they would've killed him like that.
