This game would have been so great if they fucking play tested the AI and realize how fucking cheap it is. It takes me 0-3 continues to beat SC2's arcade mode but this shit right here is another fucking beast. What the fuck were they thinking?

At least I can make Cassandra a cute redhead in the character creator.

I don't disagree, but in Soulcalibur and Soulcalibur 2, it's manageable if you don't just mash buttons and actually try and look for openings along with blocking. Literally I do the exact same shit in this game and for the first 4 or 5 matches, it's about the same experience. After that 5th match, the AI literally just starts spamming moves, blocking shit it very clearly shouldn't and reading inputs like a bastard.


It's very, very unfun despite the game itself being fun with other people. The only problem is to unlock all the cool shit you need to go through the Tales of the Sword and the Chronicles of the Sword multiple times, which is frustrating beyond belief. Someone really fucked up with the AI. I can beat Inferno is SC2 with 1 or 2 tries yet Raphael and Sigfried gangbang me constantly. It's frustrating.

I guess I will have to hit the practice mode if I want to get anywhere.

Apparently, the money they got from Sony for console-exclusivity was so good, they ignored their previous approach of making the console version the final version that had all the bugfixes and balance changes for the best experience and did the exact opposite.

I'm not even shitting on the game being absolute trash. It's still great and can be fun when it's working well, but fuck me if this game isn't absolutely raw and need some more time in the oven. For me, SC3 signaled the beginning of the end for the Soulcalibur games' cultural relevance and eventually to the series itself. So many lessons learned during SC2 just not even remotely implemented well if at all.

Two discoveries:

2) There's a difference between the Quick play mode and the Tales of the Sword mode. The quick play mode is more akin to the classic arcade mode in terms of both difficulty and content. Tales of the Sword is much more punishing (in terms of one round KOs and the AI being a lot more brutal than the arcade's AI) than the arcade AI, which is more in line with the AI in Soul Calibur 2. My complaints are sorta kinda valid but only for ToS and even then with the caveat that I now understand this is the master of the game mode. Arcade mode is fine and pretty fun all things considered

The more you know I guess. I guess this is the new Soulcalibur thread. I'm starting to like SC3 more now that I know that there's a lot more content to truly master the game and have fun than in SC2.
