This and Revenge are peak arcade racers
>>
Why the fuck are all cars in Takedown either red, blue or black/white? There's literally one yellow car in the whole game.
>>
>>12021026
And Flatout 2
>>
>>12021284
I thought there were two that had yellow finishes (the Custom Muscle and Super Type 1).
>>
>>12021026
The licensed music is so fucking cringeworthy.
>>
>>12021026
Fuck revenge for not having quickplay
>>
>>12021660
It's the best licensed soundtrack of all time faggot
>>
>>12021664
Big disadvantage. I also wish you could set the number of laps on a given race.
>>
>>12021684
The franchise peaked with takedown, and don't even get me started on paradise...
It's like no one in the studio understood the franchise.

Not putting quickplay in revenge was just plain lazy.
>>
>>12021739
>and don't even get me started on paradise...

What, you hate my favorite racing game of all time? Faggot.
>>
>>12021747
There's a reason why it killed the franchise.
>>
>>12021747
Paradise sucked and was just another EA cash grab fuck job. I want a level select screen, not an open world designed to waste my time.
>>
Paradise is best one!
>>
>>12021754
Niggas can't handle decistion making in the spot, they need their straight lines racing games. I bet you like Final Fantasy X too.
>>
>>12021775
Shitty soundtrack
Shitty events
Shitty tracks
Having to do the same events over and over just to progress.

>enter /vr/
>be surprised when people prefer their arcade racers to be designed closer to arcade cabinets than GTA
>>
>>12021026
It’s kino, /vr/ cubies are doing a hate campaign against Burnout 3 from their discord cause the shitcube didn’t get it lmao
>>
Admittedly a big part of why I like Paradise was playing online but regardless I cherish it deeply.
>>
>>12021660
It was of its time, you had to be there. The only one that I hate a lot is the intro cutscene music (Lazy Generation by the F-Ups). It's such fucking Green Day derivative garbage. The rest of the soundtrack, especially the Atreyu track, is pretty cool though
>>
I thought that was Sega Rally Championship but okay
>>
>>12022017
Fuck you that song rockz my sockz nigger
>>
What were Burnout 1 and 2 like? This series seemed completely irrelevant until the third entry
>>
>>12024493
The biggest difference between Acclaim (1/2) and EA (3/R) games is how Boost is handled. In early games you can't use it until you build up the whole meter and then you blow it in one go. If you manage to use it with full efficiency (no braking), you may earn a Burnout! and the meter gets completely refilled. You can chain Burnouts to get very long times of boosting. Also, takedowns weren't a thing, so the games were pure racers at heart.
Burnout 1 is a small game, some call it a tech demo. It has very strong emphasis on traffic evasion as any collision is deadly. Later stages happen on very busy highways filled with obstacles. This creates a problem, as dangerous traffic pretty much discourages using Boost. Crash mode does not exist yet.
Burnout 2 is actually great game. Tracks feel much better, making Boost a proper game mechanic you can rely on. The thrill of chaining Burnouts despite the risk of losing control and crashing is amazing. The campaign is long just enough, with new cars constantly getting faster. Crash mode is introduced as a bonus mode using regular race cars.

This comment is funny for a number of reasons
>It was of its time, you had to be there. pop punk? ew punk is super original and not derivative at all

You weren't there
>>
>>12024549
I was there. It's easy to sound like Green Day, I never implied it wasn't. How about this: it was uninspired pop punk garbage that didn't exactly make them stand out from the rest of the wave of pop punk that was popular at the time. It was just a shit song that didn't deserve to be the title track. That suffice or are you going to extrapolate something else from my statement?
>>
>>12024603
>>12024549
Also the "Green Day sound" is pretty distinct and is/was heavily imitated, has nothing to do with any implication of being derivative of something else. All rock is derivative lmao. The F-Ups got 100% of their influence from Dookie-era Green Day, anyone could've told you that

>local /vr/ schizo shows up and starts console warring out of nowhere
Stick to the topic.
>>
>>12021808
You guys (i-i mean future trans men, sorry) got cucked out of some of the most iconic multiplats. Sorry man the developers saw what unbathed cretins Super Smash fans were and instantly cancelled the GameCube port out of embarrassment
>>
>>12021026
It's amazing how EA took an IP no one cared about with Acclaim and made it into a huge hit.
>>
>>12024920
Should have rescued BMX XXX as well.
>>
>>12024920
The second Burnout is pretty good and underrated
