Yeah, there's absolutely nothing embarrassing about falling flat on your face the first attempt only to redeem yourself a little later. If this had happened today, the devs would've just released a long post about how players "just didn't get it", push it to market anyway, and then wonder why it sold ten copies. Being able to take criticism with humility and develop from it is key to any project.
