I finished this for the first time today, going in completely blind. And wow, this made me weep for how low the bar is for more modern survival horror games today. Tying saves to a limited resource, adding more enemies as you backtrack. Just phenomenal. Are the other games this good? The only other one I've completed was RE4.
>>12029219You should play the original at some point. REmake is fairly casualized in comparison>REmake has defense items that are get out of jail items essentially (tazers, flashbangs, daggers), they trivialize zombies AND dont take any inventory space>REmake shows you which rooms are not cleared for items (shitty trend that went on to all subsequent RE games more or less)>story variation is distilled to a single yes/no prompt unlike original (pic rel)1,2,3,CV are all worth playing and they are all slightly different.7 uses a lot of the classic formula in first person and it is done pretty well.Village is hit and miss.Remake of 2 is excellent.
>>12029219RE2 is the best one, a masterpiece (not the shitty remake). Start with Claire's story.
>>12029264>7 uses a lot of the classic formula in first personNo it does not and I would say that is a flatout lie. 7 is fantastic for the first couple of hours (minus the insanely long unskippable cutscenes) but the game completely falls apart about halfway through and then proceeds to somehow get even worse for the last quarter.>Remake of 2 is excellent. While it's nowhere as egregious as 3 it's still subpar compared to the original. It's fine, but I wouldn't call it excellent.Aside from that, I mostly agree.
>>12029264bruh i cannot fathom anyone finding the original game harder
>>12029264lol, lmao evendon't listen to this retard, op
>>12029219>Tying saves to a limited resourcethis has never actually contributed anything meaningful, at best it functions as an anti-cheesing mechanic. if you just play the game normally I.E. saving after a major objective has been completed you will have a stack of saves at any given time.
>>12029219Zoomer here, first RE I played a couple years ago. Fucking loved the Crimson heads. Amazingly intense game.
>>12029219Try Martian gothic. It's got very interesting mechanics that you may enjoy quite a bit.
>>12029264Is this bait? Remake is significantly more difficult than the original.
>>12029219>plays games completely blindYou're the hero this world needs>but also posts on /v/Ah shit, another LARP for (You) bait, and I fell for it
>>12029492For beginners, maybe. It's about the same for an experienced player. The Director's Cut Advanced Mode is much harder.
>>12029335I think remake of 2 was heavily neutered in terms of atmosphere of the original and all the cut content is inexcusable. But the game stands on it own as a very competent survival horror, and for probably even more so for someone who doesn't suffer from emotional connection to the original and who is getting into these games for the first time in 2025.>>12029492It's really not. Even the meme crimsonheads appear way too late in the game when you already have fuckton of ammo and you are more or less done with the mansion, you can literally just avoid them.
