Using the japanese release years fucks up these charts in the 8bit and early 16 bit era. The impact was different when when we first played mario 3 in 1990, and the NES dragon warriors well into the 1990salonside snes and genesis titles, and early 90s PC rpgs. It is the main reason the DQ series was mostly ignored in the west when "new" and are only celebrated decades later by a new younger generation who played remakes with their anime art style restored. We didnt even know DQ series had a legendary mamga artist onboard, it was all buried.
