Mega Drive beats PC Engine, but it's closer than you think. SNES is only really good if you like the Nintendo games.

>>12030672I must have read it wrong, I was thinking how 16 bit systems didn't improve on 8 bit that much. Typical 8 bit systems can be around 384 but sometimes up to 512 so about 8 times. Its in the pce dev docs or archive.org.

Super NES9/10 – It isn’t particularly weak in any popular genre of the time (FPS games aside).Mega Drive8/10 – Similar to the SNES, it’s decent even for RPGs when you factor in Mega CD games like Lunar 2. However, there’s far too much Western shovelware, the SNES has plenty of japanese shovelware, but japanese shovelware at the time was usually around 3/10 or 4/10, unlike the 0/10 or 1/10 western shovelware like Sword of Sodan, Dark Castle, or Indiana Jones: Instruments of Chaos.PC Engine7/10 – An underrated platform, but its library is less balanced compared to the ones above.
I guess the SNES, but honestly, all three of them are great.
