I got the highest score in King's Quest 5. Who can top that? It had such good graphics considering it was a DOS-ROM instead of a Sega System app.

>>12030567>42EKR?4T1ADThat's not a score, stupid.
Try being more careful next time!
>>12030567Ah, so you went and put pandora's box back, quite clever of you.>King's Quest 5I think you'll find that's KQ4BTW, did you try the BEAM ME code (in the AGI version).
>>12030567>Sega System Appwh...what

>>12030745just play Monkey Island or something. Sierra games are fucking shit, you'll get soft locked a million times before you ever beat one without a guide
>>12030923This, but just play Half-Life instead.
>sega systemneck yourself spammer>>12030569fippy bippy
>>12030923I'm very familiar with the Lucasarts library, and very fond of those games - I've never really dived into Sierra, but there are some well regarded games I'd like to experience. >>12030782>>12030790OK - I'll give them a go
>>12030923>Mongey island This is no reddit nigga
>>12030745Pepper's adventure in time Ecoquest 1 & 2Lsl 6 & 7In this games you can't actually die or get soft locked.

>>12030745Mixed Up Mother Goose
>>12030567In a way these were entertaining, in other ways, playing 'find the magic pixel or die' got old fast.Sierra used to operate a 1-900 number for game tips. Imagine how many kids called that thing. They also sold hint books with a magic marker which would reveal the hints in stages if you were stuck. I have a couple still from when I was a kid.Eventually you have to enter into the mind of Roberta herself, a witch woman for sure, to understand what the hell is going on.
>>12030745A better question, which was the most frustrating one? I'm probably going to say The Colonel's Bequest which was entirely based on the premise of timed events and inexplicable deaths. But, if you were considering Sierra games that were impossible without a manual, I might say Police Quest 2 or CODENAME: Iceman.
>>12030567perils of rosella was surprisingly fairly easy, I mean outside of establishing your own soft lock avoidance save catalog system most of the puzzles aren't that mind bending, pretty basic recognize the fairytale trope type stuff. I could easily see someone completing it without a guide over lechuck's revenge or grim fandango.
Why is King's Quest VII so underrated?
>>12031092while a lot of the softlocks are bullshit(not giving sierra a pass, a lot of them aren't clever or meaningful enough to justify the player punishment), it definitely can give the puzzles a different feel than lucas arts. when you solve something in an LA game, even a hard one, it's just a static puzzle you figured out, a self contained mental exercise. when you finally get through a puzzle tree in sierra it feels like you orchestrated something, saw through the folds of the matrix.
>>12032304the neutered interaction systems that came about in that wave aren't remembered very fondly.
>>12030745gabriel knight's chapter system means that there aren't really any true softlocks, you always start a chapter with the means to complete the game, and most of the fail states that exist in the game generally don't involve any prerequisites, you make a bad choice and then immediately you die. the closest thing to a softlock in the game has its trigger point at the start of the final area, so only sets you back 15 minutes at most.
>>12030745Maniac MansionYou'll thank me later.
>>12032321>gabriel knight's chapter systemnot sierra
>>12033216>Maniac Mansionthats Lucas Arts
>>12030745https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmZpj_SGvXYOh wait, sorry, were you talking purely about Sierra's quest games?
>it was a DOS-ROM instead of a Sega System app
>>12034578it seems like it
>>12034339Are you sure?
how about the one that softlocks you over some typical adventure game bullshit that never got explained beforehand, just like every piece of shit Sierra ever madefuck motherfucking Sierra, leisure suit Larfy is for fags anyway. Honk if you love pussy!>>12030569fpbp
>>12030771>>12030782Seconded, love that one. My favorite is King's Quest III, but if timers piss you off I'd say to leave it for now.
>>12032304because it's ugly and VI is right before it.

>>12032321So here's what I'll do. I won't be removing GBA, but I will be adding the Sega Master System due to it being heavily requested. What happens from there? You can either branch off to the Master System or do the optional GBA. Either way you will be finishing with the PS1 whether you finished a MS OR GBA game. Sound good?
>>12030745>>12030771This. The Quest for Glory games are the only playable and reasonable of the Sierra games. Really fucking good games.
>>12037703Does anybody try and play every game in a console's library? I've been getting complete romsets and playing each rom alphabetically. I've done NES, Master System, Genesis and SNES so far, made easier by playing on a PSP, so I can do it on the go.I was surprised there were so many Earthbound-like games I'd never heard of on Famicom (i.e. RPGs set in contemporary times with kid protagonists).
>>12034578Not a P&C adventure, but still very fun.>>12033378??? - is there some sort of pedantic point I'm missing here>>12036065>>12034339Technically it's a 'Lucasfilm' game - but it's very different from LucasArts later games when they adopted the non-soft-lock philosophy that you seen in Monkey Island and beyond. It's pretty fun.
>>12038146Maniac Mansion is good. I preferred Zak McKracken and the alien mindbenders, it had ironed out the chinks. After playing Sierra I was a bit 'wow'. I do like the Sierra games though, very frustrating but you earned your wins. King's Quest 3 was particularly excruciating, but in a good way to me
>>12038150*a bit wow on the point and clicks
>>12033216Unironicaly a far better game than monkey island>>12031495Don't ignore pepper >>12031585I appreciate Sierra doing games for kids, but it's very boring if you're an adult
