Well, I beat it. That final chapter was beautiful, but not worth all the forced combat and slow room transitions through a boring looking blimp.
This game gets compared to Haunting Ground a lot because both feature orphaned girls with canine companions, but can you imagine how better this game could've been if it actually PLAYED like Haunting Ground?
Instead of fighting hordes of unscary, annoying imps you'd be running from Hoffman/Mermaid/Stray Dog (and maybe someone else) whose visual design is way more disturbing than any of the pursuers from HG other than Debilitas.
Just imagine if the mermaid princess crawled after you the same way Lorenzo does.
Sound design needs work as well
Overall, not sorry I played it, but not sorry I didn't play it when it came out either. Also, I doubt I'll be replaying it like I do other survival horror titles

this game was developed by the same people behind the masterpiece Chulip
play it next

Congratulations I guess.

I tried playing it back in the day and hated how unresponsive its combat system is so I dropped it and never looked back. Won't be giving it another precisely because of this.
Even if the story and ambience are okay, if the gameplay is shit then no thanks.

As bad as the gameplay is I still think it's better than Extermination, as far as survival horror games for the PS2 go

90% of the combat is thankfully avoidable, but the game has a nasty habit of punishing you for running into a wrong room by locking the door and forcing an encounter (entering the classroom in the penultimate chapter where 7 of the bastards and one giant bird imp gang up on you was a huge mistake)
and some of the later chapters also force combat on you, which is just bizarre. I don't remember Resident Evil or Silent Hill doing this and their combat is heavenly compared to this
the boss battles are inexcusably bad, aside from the final one which is mercifully easy

read about it in magazines as a kid but never played it, people were giving it 7/10s
all I know is that it had an infection mechanic and it's set in the arctic

>(and maybe someone else)
Martha was supposed to be a boss

music is sick, some of the best on the system imo. The Attic and Backbiting are standouts and well worth listening to outside of the game

wish I could find the ambiance that plays during the rag princess sews chapter, sounds like spooky silent hill-esque industrial music

otherwise this one is my favourite

are there cheats when emulating this game like infinite health to get pass the literally unfinished parts with too many enemies, so you can just enjoy the setting and story?
