Badass movie. Really an early indication when they hired Western 'Hollywood' people to make a major movie on big budget and it flopped then they made a movie with just Nomura and game people who admitted they didn't know how to make a movie so they just made it cool like they would want a game to be and fans loved it. If only Square execs listened....
FFVII is probably my favorite game, but I refuse to watch or play anything but the international PC release of the OG. FFVII is best standalone without bullshit retcons. "Geostigma?" Get outta here!

I significantly prefer modded on PC in 4k with 8x internal resolution, which is why I play that way. Not actually stylized, not fantastical, just grounded and just a wink and a nod to the series roots. But back in 2002 people were not ready for that because gaming wasn't that huge yet. But this movie / a movie like this would've been at least mildly successful now in 2025. It's very funny to think about but I honestly think it's true
