People always talk about Goldeneye, but what about the other 007 games?
Have you played any, and what did you think of them?
>>
>>12034217
Rogue Agent is an excellent game and I'm tired of pretending it's not. Only reason to dislike it is lorefaggotry.

The dual weilding actually feels powerful unlike Halo 2.
>>
>>12034217
fun because of the cool spy agent fancy hacking tools part of it. decent FPS games overall. At least back then.

From that image alone I think I played nightfire, n64 obviously, agent under fire and that seems to be it. I recall trying james pond on the gb and it was really weird. But I was also really young so i didn't know what was going on.

>tomorrow never dies
My buddy got it for Christmas, was the one thing he wanted since he didn't have a 64 and the hype was "finally goldeneye for psx". He got it, beat it in a day and quit gaming. He's now in jail.
>from Russia with love
I picked it up recently, it's pretty okay but it weirdly plays a lot like tomorrow never dies. I can't think of a reason why they would emulate that
>Nightfire
Played it the first time I smoked weed. It was on a 20" crt and I went full townie and had no idea what was going on.
>The gameboy one
That shot was based, if for nothing more than the gambling
>also
Your picrel is missing my picrel
>>
Game Boy James Bond is "goated with the sauce" as the kids say
>>
>>12034217
I played all except FRWL
TND - mediocre Syphon Filter clone
TWINE PS1 - mediocre Medal of Honor clone
TWINE N64 - fun successor to Goldeneye, got overshadowed by Perfect Dark
007 Racing - it's not even a racing game, avoid
Agent Under Fire - ok but too short
Nightfire - big improvement on AUF, I heard it had great multiplayer
Nightfire PC - not as bad as some people say, it basically an ok Goldsrc mod
Rogue Agent - took me like a month to beat because it was so fucking boring, every level is the same
Everything or Nothing - probably the best game but some levels are seriously hard
Quantum of Solace - Call of Duty with Bond skin
QoS PS2 - terrible shooting and controls
>>
>>12034220
Playing as a bad guy was such a unique idea yet they made it so unfun to play
>>
>>12034450
>plays a lot like tomorrow never dies. I can't think of a reason why they would emulate that
It was made by the same people as Everything or Nothing which was also a 3rd person shooter, the controls are much smoother than the PS1 game
>>
>>12034472
>the controls are much smoother than the PS1 game
Shocking. Next you'll tell me the graphica are better too
>>
>>12034475
Uhhh there were some 3rd person shooters from that time which still had pretty bad controls, that was before the time over the shoulder cover based shooters became the standard
>>
Are there any pre-Goldeneye games worth playing?

Everyone forgets The Duel.
>>
>>12034493
Uhhhh what gen had better 3rd person controls, 5th or 6th?
>>
>>12034217
I remember playing the PS2 and Xbox versions of Nightfire at two separate friends' houses with 4 people total.

Very fun multiplayer game and the match types are neat. Bots are hilariously bad but still fun to fuck around with.

>>12034220
I remember playing the DS version of Rogue Agent and liking it. Very weird control scheme but you get used to it.
>>
>>12034462
Seconding TWINE 64, game wasn't perfect but was vastly overlooked
>>
>>12034217
Agent Under Fire was kind of meh when I played it, though I imagine if I'd had people to play it with I might have enjoyed it somewhat more. Nightfire was a good time for both multiplayer and single player.

>>12034559
I only played the Istanbul multiplayer level, but I had a great time with it. That was a great map.
>>
>>12034217
The only other ones I've played were Agent Under Fire and Reloaded, and I enjoyed both. Heard Nightfire is more or less the fan favorite.
>>
>>12034229
This is a giga-hipster tier opinion. Gameboy 007 is a legit overrated as fuck game, it's pixel hunting crap with basic gameplay where the only interesting aspect is the ways you can use your gadgets to beat the dumb AI. It's not even a proper Zelda style adventure because you're limited to rigid missions.

>>12034217
Goldeneye is easily the best, but TWINE is also very solid and carries the same torch forward.
>>
>>12034217
I grew up on picrel, me and my brother would play split screen and online.

Really solid multiplayer and a good campaign.
>>
Why is it so ignored?
It is one of the best looking N64 fps games and it actually plays kind of well.
>>
>>12034948
It's not a great game but it sure is better and more interesting than the other handheld 007 games which were pretty generic shooters and action games, especially that awful GBC version of TWINE, I refuse to believe someone beat those stealth sections

>>12034959
It came out too late into the consoles life cycle and after Perfect Dark
>>
I liked TWINE 64 more than I did Goldeneye, at least for single player.

I also liked Nightfire PC more than I did the console version

Technically GBA Nightfire is one of the most imrpessive FPS on GBA. However the game is hard as balls, and not in a fun way.
>>
>>12034959
most people couldn't get past the bank lobby
>>
>>12034534
How is his head so big?
>>
>>12035564
Isn't that the PS1 problem?
>>
>>12035716
They both start with a bank level, because the movie does (iirc, it's one of the worsts James Bond movies so I only watched it once or twice). In the N64 version though it requires more gadget use than in the PSX version which is rather straightforward
>>
>>12035872
It's interesting how the PS1 version had a level where you had to win money in Valentin's casino but N64 didn't
>>
>>12035537
The game often requires vertical aiming which just doesn't work with the limited control scheme, you also had to press various button combinations for different actions.
Everything or Nothing on GBA was much shorter and simpler game but more enjoyable
>>
>>12034956
I think this game gets too much shit. It's honestly one of the best "CoD" like games out there and it does enough different to not be a complete bore like a typical CoD game. I did play the Reloaded version on 360 though, which isn't retro but eh.
>>
>>12035924
Both are true. The game should have had some sort of auto aiming. Most FPS on GBA have auto aiming that is too leniant and Nightfire has the inverse issue.
>>
>>12034956
i had a hacked wii and cheated the FUCK outta online mulitplayer. so many kids were so pissed at me on gamefaqs.

I'm a huge Nightfire fan and I tend to enjoy games that pushed their respective systems to their limits, so I thought I would enjoy Nightfire GBA. But it was way too frustrating for even me. I can appreciate how they managed to bring over most of the same environments from the console version, but the controls were a pain in the ass. There's also the fact that enemies will frequently spawn into existence RIGHT BEHIND YOU and shoot you in the back, so no matter how careful you are, you are never safe. It got to the point where I would have to walk backwards through some doorways to avoid getting shot from behind.
>>
>>12034229
under rated
>>
>>12035339
Sadly many of the most impressive games come late in the consoles life sycle.
Some of those games are always on border of the next gen.
Makes me wonder how far old consoles could be pushed to in the right hands.
Opposite is true too. Some of the next gen games are designed for old gen but were pushed on the next gen.
There is around three year window for these games.
>>
>>12036584
>It got to the point where I would have to walk backwards through some doorways to avoid getting shot from behind.

I know what you mean. I spent the majority of the 2nd half of the game learning every enemy spawn and every enemy placement and use all sorts of exploits to stay alive (like remaining crouched all the time, or peaking behind corners to shoot at the first pixels of an enemy before he saw me, etc...)
In the late game a single situation gone wrong can be the end of you and if you die you restart the entire set of levels too. The game is insane.

And yeah the game has an issue with enemies visibly spawning from thin air, especially in your back (if you're turned around to see it).
>>
>>12036263
I remember several cheaters and many people camping that fucking boat room.
>>
>>12034956
Really good offline multiplayer too.
>>
>>12036313
say why then
>>
>>12034229
What is so hard about saying what makes a game good? You can't mog games of different genres

Spent countless hours playing Nightfire with friends
>>
>>12034229
this is one of those cases where the concept is way cooler than the actual game. like yes of course james bond should be more of an adventure puzzle game than a shooter, that's great, but the specific realization of that idea on the original gameboy isn't very good.
>>
>>12035537
the fact that ghost babel exists kills this game for me. there's no reason not to just make a metal gear clone on a 2d portable system, don't bother with the fps shit it obviously isn't capable of running.
>>
Does OG Goldeneye still hold up today, or is it one of those 'you had to be there' games?
>>
>>12034217
I rented Everything or Nothing for the GC from Blockbuster. I thought it was so good, i remember replaying the highway bike missions again and again because you could go crazy fast.

https://youtu.be/CoMKwrtrkuk

Does anyone know if From Russia With Love is worth it a playthrough. Never really been a 007 fan but i just really like Everything or Nothing.
